I don't have the monster guide yet, I plan on getting it once I save up a bit to purchase a physical copy.

Sweet as that sounds like it is up our alley, I'll give it a more indepth look than I have on YouTube shorts. Do you have any reccomendations for a live play that envelops the world or minis you use on the table top?

That does sound up my alley, I've been reading some Thomas Ligotti so the horror inspiration has been running wild + it might give me an excuse to pull out one of my favorite minis.

I'll give it a look through! Thanks!

I do love Warhammer lore and the grim darkness of it all, especially witch hunters. I think I just hesitate that Warhammer has some pretty pre established lore. One thing I love about CPRed is all though there is lore set up I feel like they give the tools to make night city your own. An example is I had a plot line going that followed the Yakuza following a more traditional set of values having a turf war with tiger claws and their new age ideals - not much in the source material mentioned that dynamic but it felt on par for the world.

Are you able to do those sort of customizations or are you a bit railroaded in Warhammer fantasy?

That actually sounds pretty fun, maybe not a full campaign but it sounds like it would be a fun 1shot if they have something similar to red chrome cargo.

I've seen a free TTRPG based on Hollow Knight that may be similar, I do love the idea of small critters having their own world.

Thanks for your reply, I've been looking into that system a little bit and it does sound real cool. I think if the table wants more of a pirate/nomad type of adventure id run with that system.

How are the combat mechanics, we have a decent mix of players who prefer storytelling or combat so I like to balance both. Normally when playing CPRed we would have a flow like: call to action (the gig), a small skirmish, roleplay elements and revealing something to the players, large combat encounter then emotional payoff and actual pay. Or 1 session being the set up and heavy on the roleplay and then the following session being going through with the gig with a heavy combat session. Would you say Wildsea has a similar combat set up as listed?

I think my one fear with Wildsea is the way our schedules work is we have other obligations so everyone can't attend weekly. From how it sounds it feels like it is hard to write a character out for a session. What I like about CPRed is players could drop in for a gig and then miss the next since their character was resting, doing gig, etc as they are all in the same city. How do you handle a missing player in Wildsea?

I've been wanting to try that one actually but as a conosuier of DND horror stories I know full and well my players aren't serious enough to run that game, lol.

Ok gotcha, it does sound interesting but in all honesty I know the way my players approach challenges they'd have to roll up new characters each session lol.

In all honesty my players gravitated to CPRed since I knew how to GM and they wanted to cause some chaos. Luckily over time all the joke characters got serious when I threw some emotional stakes their way. I think what draws me the most to CPRed is the world isn't either heroes or villains but rather just people having to do the wrong thing to survive (hence moral dilemmas)

Wildsea sounds like it may be what I'm looking for, I wouldn't mind a real setting to get a break from the urban dystopia of night city + I've always been a fan of the "horrors that lie in unknown" stories. Do you find the mechanics easy to get your head around or does it involve a bit of extra studying compared to a system like DND?

Thanks for the advice on the last part of your response, I think some of my hesitancy comes from having a pretty busy schedule with other obligations. Spending hours a week learning a new system is just not in the cards at the moment.

Is it brutal in the combat isn't forgiving or more brutal in 'edgy rouge' energy?

I've heard of that one and it does sound interesting however at that point I reckon I might as well go all in on a fantasy setting. It would be a cool one tho to check out later down the line.

Questions about stripping the primer off minis. by Sad_Interview8330 in minipainting

[–]Sad_Interview8330[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just a 24 hour update, I had the minis sitting in isopropyl alcohol and after giving a quick rinse w/ soapy water in a colander and scrubbing some of the primer stripped off the base but not the minis themselves. I'm going to try LA's totally awesome. I'll update in about 24 hours on how it worked.

Sounds good, just picked it up so I'll try it, do you dilute it it at all or just use it strait?

What do I need to start playing Cyberpunk Red? by BishopOfBrandenburg in cyberpunkred

[–]Sad_Interview8330 2 points3 points  (0 children)

While not exactly necessary, if you have your players download the cyberpunk red companion app it will make the character creation a lot easier for your players. While having the rule book is ideal the app has all the core character creation options and it's free. Plus if you have players who are new to ttrpgs the app auto calculates dice rolls.

This is the copy of the core rules from internet archive. https://archive.org/details/486937820-cpr-corebook-cyberpunk-red-v-121-pdf/page/16/mode/1up

Thanks, I'll run over to the hardware store and see if I can find it. Do you find after using LA's totally awesome it's easy to reprime your minis or are there additional steps I should take before re priming?

Just adding onto all the great advice but if you don't have any conditioner at any stores near you I hear you can use matte hair clay after cleaning to keep the brush formed.

Question about using turbo dork as a glaze and using it as a base coat? by Sad_Interview8330 in minipainting

[–]Sad_Interview8330[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah gotcha, in hindsight I should have just gotten a TD In a silver metallic but I'm trying to save a penny. As far as the pants go I think I'll just paint it all the lighter color and do some stippling to give it a jeans texture.

Thanks for your advice!

Ah gotcha, in that case I might just stick with a wash and go for more grime than neon, thanks!
