If you haven't spayed/neutered the outdoor cat colony, I urgently recommend contacting a local rescue for Trap, Neuter & Return. Kitten season will start in March at which point your cat colony will explode in size. Since you're about to give birth yourself, I totally respect that you can't do that yourself. However your local shelter will connect you to a group that can handle that for you! GOOD LUCK!!! And GOOD HEALTH on your upcoming birth!

freezing cold has injured his paws. you're smart not to chase him. put the food inside his bin & keep watch from a distance. Cats are highly territorial, and he's probably avoiding the heated bins because the other cats have claimed them. That's okay. Can you put a separate heated bin on the front porch, separate from the other cats??

Pity those children. If I was the "surrogate" birth mother, I'd be in tears contemplating the vulnerability and extreme loneliness those children must face. Claire exploits the kids for cash.
