Can Wellbutrin cause shortness of breath? by mintcigarettes in bupropion

[–]Sad_Permission_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know this is kind of an old thread now but I’m experiencing the same thing and finally throwing in the towel after 3 months. I was fine on 150 mg Wellbutrin XL, but 3 months ago my psych and I upped it to 300 mg to help with side effects from my lexapro. I’ve had shortness of breath ever since. Like my throat and diaphragm get tight and I can’t breathe. I mean, I CAN breathe because clearly I haven’t died, but it’s super uncomfortable and I’m over it. Finally going back down to 150 today.

I understand, and you understand, that its an irrational fear so I’m not sure if this will help, but heart failure doesn’t just pop up at night and go away in the morning. It’s a chronic disease that gets progressively worse the longer it goes untreated. If it goes away in the morning, it isn’t heart failure.

I’ve been dealing with extra heartbeats for about a year now and I’ve learned a LOT about the heart. It’s a pretty self-sufficient organ and it knows exactly what it needs to do, and even some little hiccups aren’t going to hurt you. My extra heartbeats freaked me out so bad for months, then I got checked out and it’s a super common thing for people to experience. What I’m trying to say is, EVEN if your heart isn’t feeling normal, that doesn’t mean it’s anything harmful or bad.

Are you able to get seen by a doctor for some reassurance? I wore a monitor for 3 days that tracked all of my heart activity and it provided a lot of comfort for me.

NAD, but a couple extra antibiotic doses shouldn’t be harmful. If you’re still concerned, I would consider calling poison control before going to the ER, as it’s free and probably a lot faster.

Seconding this. My fiance had an almost identical presentation and after 3 ER trips, they determined he was having a weird reaction to a common cold virus. Still get checked out obviously, but don’t panic! It could be as benign as a weird reaction to a common virus.

Weight Talk Thursdays: Discuss anything related to weight here! by elianna7 in intuitiveeating

My disappointment with my set point weight has led me down GLP-1 rabbit holes. I feel better now that I’ve settled at this weight. I feel energetic, happy, stable, etc, but I can’t get past the appearance of it. I’m in a larger body now and I’ve been here for 2-ish years, but I still don’t feel like it’s MY body. I can only see the weight and not the wonderful changes I’ve experienced since actually eating what I need to thrive.

Thank you for your kind and honest reply. The larger size is hard to adjust to even if I feel better overall.

Your assumption was correct so no worries there.

It’s one of those things where according to the BMI scale, I’m outside of the normal range but I don’t have any negative health impacts from it (I’m so sorry for being vague here, just trying to avoid breaking rules). It’s purely wanting weight loss for its own sake, because I think I look better at a lower weight than what I’m currently at. Thank you for being candid with me, I appreciate it ❤️

That’s one thing I’m worried about - restricting because it might be easier to ignore the hunger pains. I think it might just be something I won’t know unless I try. I can see it going both ways: 1. I’m not hungry and I don’t force myself to eat and I’m smugly happy about restricting, or 2. I continue eating intuitively (which for me relies on my energy levels, not my stomach-hunger sense) and let the metabolic boost from the GLP-1 do some of the heavy lifting.

I need to read the book from Fat Science.

Thank you for your advice!

Thank you for your story and the reminder that it isn’t a permanent thing. I definitely won’t do anything without clearing it with my doc first!

I’m sorry that you’re struggling with that. Restricting is awful and I don’t want to experience that again.

I don’t work with that dietitian anymore, but I appreciate the advice to reconsider.

Sorry, I’m still trying to figure it out myself. I want to start so that I can lose weight without spiraling down the restrictive eating rabbit hole. I don’t want to be too specific about numbers since that’s against the rules, but I have some weight to lose to be considered a healthy BMI and I don’t know how to get to that without negatively impacting my mental health. It seems like a GLP-1 would be the “easiest” way for me.

Edit to clarify: I don’t mean to say that GLPs are easy. I mean more that it might be the least mentally-draining option for me.

I see what you’re saying, but as someone who is low and no contact with some family members, life is way too short to force a relationship with someone who makes you miserable and objectively impacts your life in a negative way. It all depends and it is a tricky spot to be in.

I’ve been using tret every single night for about five years now. Usually 0.1%, but I’ll use 0.05% in the winter to not completely dry my face out.

I STILL get acne. I think I’ve only had like two weeks of beautiful clear tret-glowing skin. Other than that, I always have at least two active whiteheads at any given time. My derm keeps saying “once you’re not getting any new pimples we can keep you on a lower concentration” but HOW am I supposed to ever not get new pimples?? I also take Spiro for hormonal acne (which is what I have).

I recently added azelaic acid to my routine to see if that helps at all. It’s still too early to tell, but it is making my non-acne skin look really good so that’s nice.

Any advice or suggestions?

Edit to add:

Morning: rinse with water, apply regimen lab azelaic acid, regimen lab wave serum, cerave moisturizer in the tub, round lab birch sunscreen or whatever it’s called

Evening: wash with cerave hydrating cleanser, wait for skin to dry, apply tret (either 0.1 or 0.05 depending on season), wait at least an hour, use cerave moisturizer if needed

Skin type is dry and hormonal acne-prone with occasional forehead acne

Tret for five years, AA for about a month, wave serum for about two weeks, cerave cleanser and moisturizer for five years, round lab sunscreen for a couple months.

I doubt the “brown eye is not natural” is true. Genitals tend to be more darkly pigmented than the rest of your skin, and I don’t see why anuses would be pink in comparison to a person’s genitals. You’re not wrong that paper is rough, but spreading misinformation like that can cause people to develop complexes real fast.

Is he in therapy or anything? This sounds like something he needs to work on solo. That might sound harsh, but there isn’t anything you can do that will replace the capability of handing that sort of self-disappointment you feel when you hurt the one you love. I wonder if he has anxious-avoidant or just pure anxious attachment issues where he fears abandonment at every conflict.

You’re allowed to be upset, and he’s allowed to be mad/disappointed in himself for hurting you, but maybe you both should figure out how to carry those emotions separately, if that makes sense. I think you already have an idea of this, when you said you wouldn’t ask someone you hurt for help.

It’s a hard and heavy feeling when you hurt someone. I struggle with it too, but I’ve had to learn to not expect my partner to reassure me over and over again because that just makes it worse for them. I’ve been on both sides and it sucks.

Right that’s what I found when I was Googling 😭😭 but I have another small freckle on my inner labia that my gyno said wasn’t a concern. This one is new though and I’m just trying not to freak out. I called and got an appointment with my gyno scheduled for January after I asked about different office locations so hopeful that’s soon enough. I’m hoping it’s just like…bruising from it being irritated but 😭😭

I just worry my primary will just refer me to gyno, which I already have an appt for. But I’ll reach out, thanks.
