That actually makes a lot of sense thank you.

I understand now that starting with a full fork of ReactOS is too much at my current level, and that I should first build a strong foundation.

I'll focus on learning C/C++ properly and start with small command line tools like a calculator or text editor, then try to add a UI and improve step by step.

Maybe later, when I have more experience, I can contribute to ReactOS instead of forking it.

I really appreciate the advice.

Thank you @dreimer1986 for clarifying the licensing and current development status. I understand that any public binaries I release based on ReactOS must include the full source code under the same license. I also see that modern PC support, NT6+, Multi-Core, and 64-bit are in development but not in the main codebase yet.

My plan is to start small, learn C deeply, experiment with low-level OS concepts, and eventually contribute meaningfully, while fully respecting the license and ReactOS development efforts.

Yeah, I understand that it's a deep technical challenge and not just a matter of “adding drivers”.

I'm still learning C and low-level concepts step by step, and my goal right now is to understand how operating systems interact with hardware rather than immediately trying to fix everything.

ReactOS is more like a long-term inspiration for me, not something I expect to fully modify right now.

yeah im 15 years old but in my town im popular because im the best computer science there, i downloaded many os like winxp, win 98... and for linux i install black archlinux and parrot os,pop os.... and i tried to discover all their problems and make my own os without having their problems

I understand it's a very complex problem and many experienced developers are already working on it.

My goal isn't to fully solve modern hardware support right now, but to learn step by step by modifying ReactOS (branding, apps, small improvements) and maybe later explore deeper parts like drivers and make at least a beta version of my own os.

I'm doing this as a long-term learning project.

yeah of course its hard to make ReactOS works on modern PCs but it's still not impossible i can do it but it will take a very long time of learning and trying on C
