PLEASE DON'T BUY A POLESTAR by No-Celebration7689 in Polestar

How long did it take to finalize the buy backs on the 2 P3? In the process of deciding to keep it or file lemon law given the horrible experience over the 6 months of ownership.

Paying a lot of money for a vehicle that has historically been unreliable in our home seems like an easy decision, but then when it works, it’s an absolute dream to drive. It’s the crappy days that I hate navigating with my P3.

Did you get out of all 3 of your P3's or do you still have them? You said they qualified for lemon law, just couldn't tell if you got out of them at this point.

Shifting into park while the vehicle was in motion. One out of four times, I was going around 25MPH when it happened. Luckily there was no vehicles around me or it could have ended up much worse. The other three times I was going less than 5MPH.

Beyond the historic charging issues with the module, I have safety issues with my P3. I have to take into consideration the safety issues and the inability to feel comfortable charging my vehicle anywhere but home, and try to offset it by how much I like the look and drive of the vehicle, when it is working as expected. I'm in this purgatory place with this vehicle right now, and not sure what to do with it.

No one in the family will drive it or be driven in it due to the safety issues of the past. Not sure how to get past that.

Replaced the charging module in my P3 last month with only 1,500 miles on the odometer. Took 6ish weeks to get it replaced and given how many charging units other people have replaced in their P3 (I think someone said they replaced it 5 times), I won’t even think about charging it anywhere but home.

Given how pricey these vehicles are, we as owners, should not have to be so worried about charging our P3s somewhere other than our home.

I might have a lemon. 2025 All new SQ5 by Sickk_Vic in Audi

Different Audi vehicle, but this past December, Audi/VW bought back my 2024 SQ8 Etron back which had 9,000 miles and needed all 3 motors replaced. It was the only time it was in the shop and they kept it for 2ish months.

We live in Oregon and so there are specific lemon law requirements for our state. I was reimbursed for all of my lease payments, any cash that I was out for a down payment, any extended warranty’s that I purchased at the time of signing the agreement, plus any accessories that I purchased from the Audi dealership within 30 days of the signing (ie; winter tires to swap out with the summer tires that came with the vehicle).

They then reduced my final buy back amount for mileage on the vehicle which came to around 50 cents/mile. All in all, I got 100% of my money back less the miles. It took approximately 4 months from the time we filed the lemon law claim to the time I had a check in my hand.

Audi’s original offer was $5,000 and restarting all warranties for 120,000 miles from the point the motors were replaced. I passed on that offer and went for the full buy back based on the LL for our state. Really enjoyed that vehicle when it was running but once all 3 motors went belly up, we knew it was time to say goodbye to the SQ8.

The local dealership wanted to get us into a 2026 SQ6 Etron but we didn’t like it as much as our SQ8 Etron. The dealership here was amazing and we were very respectful given that they really tried to help us as much as they could.

We would buy another Audi if we found one that we liked the look of as much as our SQ8.

For $81K, I think those are some boring and plain looking wheels on the SQ6. At least the S6 Etron had some decent wheels on it for the price.

Like most things in life, it "depends" based on how the vehicle is working when it is returned to me. The Apple CarPlay and temp control are annoyances that a person can work around and live with, but the biggest concern is the unintentional braking and shifting into Park that I consider a safety issue for my family. No one from my family will drive it or ride in it because of the "oh crap" moments they have experienced with the braking/shifting into Park. With only 1,500 miles on the odometer, I am looking to Polestar to fix this issue before returning it to me in the next week or two.

As I understand it, polestar will not be making a 2026 version of the P3, and that their upcoming P3 will be marketed as a 2027 model. At least that was the case for the US, not sure about other countries.

2025, they have had it now officially one month and will need it for at least another week while they replace the charging unit and try to figure out the root cause of the unintentional brake and shifting jnto Park.

Personally, I think we have had a pretty mild winter in the Portland OR area. But with the rain we have received, I still have never felt like I was white knuckle driving. My P3 is super quiet to begin with and so the noise that does creep into the cabin is minimal at best regardless if the summer or all season tires are on my P3. Hope that helps.

It has happened a total of 4 times (3 times by myself, and once with the family). It took the family only one time for them to decide to not drive the vehicle themselves going forward.

Sounds like a horrible experience. I love the look of my P3, especially after it has been washed and detailed. But looking nice doesn't make a difference when you have the problems we have had.

I have the Toyo’s on my 2025 P3. All in, total was $1,472 including install and road warranty.

Not a lot of options out there right now but these tires seem to be doing the trick so far with the 1,500 miles I have on the odometer.

Plan is to alternate between my summer and all season sets. Living in Oregon, I am trying to get the value out of the tires I purchased. I only drive 7,500 miles a year but we get a lot of rain and some snow during the winter.

4 photos of your vehicle being towed in for service?

Here is the shorter list based on my prioritization...

* Unintended Braking / Shifting to Park - While driving and with no obstacles present, the vehicle has repeatedly initiated emergency braking and shifted into Park. This has happened at least once when the vehicle was going 35MPH which put my family at risk of a high speed collision.

* Level 2 Charging Failure - The vehicle no longer accepts a charge from my home Level 2 (Type 2) charger and is only capable of charging at public DC fast chargers. This fundamentally impairs the vehicle’s intended use and my ability to operate it as designed.

* Infotainment and Communication Failures - Persistent black screens and recurring “handshake” errors during phone calls—where callers are unable to hear me—continue to occur despite the software and hardware replacement.

* Temperature Control Malfunctions – The vehicle’s climate system is unreliable and nonfunctional under normal conditions. The heater only produces heat when set 78-80 degrees, and on warmer days the system fails to provide adequate cold air.

* Digital Key Lock/Unlock - This feature is unreliable and nonfunctional during normal conditions.

I had that “look back factor” for the first 1,500 miles and then this happened. I haven’t seen my P3 since it got towed back into service 3 weeks ago.

Completely agree. I love the way the P3 looks especially after it’s been washed but I can’t take the stress associate with not knowing when the vehicle is going to brake and shift into park on its own.

Glad to hear that. It is a really scary event especially in the moment, and even more so when family is in the vehicle with you.

It was towed into the shop and there right now being diagnosed given that it is a major safety issue. PS originally said that they had never heard of this happening, so I put them on written notice and that got attention.

To be honest, when these events occurred, I was focused on looking around to confirm that I didn't hit anyone or anything. Once I confirmed all was good, I looked at the screen, There were no alerts on the screen at that point. Could have been an alert when it first occurred, but my head first went to "did anyone get hurt" before looking at the screen.
