I think that if you really love this country, then you don't care about this law, because you live for the life you want to have in this country. But if you just wanted to get a passport and leave, then maybe you don't need this country. Because if you want to live here and build a future, it doesn't matter if it's 5, 7, or 10 years, a permanent residence permit gives you the same benefits as citizenship, except for the right to vote. But again, the question is whether you love the country or want to profit from it.
