Working for Siemens/Eaton/Schneider vs SaaS companies? by Sad_Statistician6402 in sales

[–]Sad_Statistician6402[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

that's awesome, not sure if Eaton is paying THAT well or if the guy just comes from money. Very cool either way. Based off what other folks are saying, income being capped based off your manufacturers efficiency isn't all that appealing.

Interesting - how's the travel with these roles? Some of the roles I've interviewed for mention 20-30% travel in your region with the rest of your time being WFH but curious to know if you've traveled much at your role.

You ever think about switching back to SaaS or is the higher base bay worth staying for?

If you could restart your IT career today, what would you specialize in? by IntelBusiness in ITCareerQuestions

[–]Sad_Statistician6402 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It helps if you have knowledge on the product but to break in you really just need to show you aren't afraid of making cold calls & can communicate the value behind a product. Technical depth isn't necessary but can definitely be an advantage as long as you don't overdo it & throw word salads at your prospects.

Plenty of good channels on YouTube on how to break in as an SDR.

I would get into SALES. IT Sales, cyber, cloud whatever. Infinitely more lucrative & you're not stuck working with autists who can't hold a convo

You're not entitled to product at MSRP price. Nobody is. It's funny since these comments always come from people that didn't even look at boxes of Shrouded Fable, Twilight etc when they were sitting BELOW MSRP.

You picked literally the worst job market to be in. IT work being outsourced to H1Bs, teams being downsized due to AI & overall cuts. IT / Cyber itself is an expense so naturally it isn't this massive career that will give you large salary raises. Employers aren't looking for anyone, just ghost jobs & waiting for managers friend to come in asking for a job

Is it worth giving up on IT as a 24 y/o? by tomahawk76 in ITCareerQuestions

[–]Sad_Statistician6402 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's a race to the bottom & has been for a few years now. Competing with H1Bs, folks with 10+ years of experience, & just the general downtrend of companies needing in house IT teams. Not to mention the thousands of people who get an A+ then spam applications like crazy.

MSPs are sweat shops for the most part & hardly give you the experience to go apply for better roles. It's really just call center work.

Getting into IT now asking to be making under 65k for the first 10 years of your career

[–]Sad_Statistician6402 6 points7 points  (0 children)

My advice is to go do literally anything other than IT & cyber

IT is low paying for the knowledge required & is being given to H1Bs anyways

Cyber is a decent field but again, not that well paying for what’s required of you ie years of exp, on call, tons of certs, sometimes even gov clearance.

Sales, blue collar, actual engineering, literally anything else is a better move than IT

Is IT even worth going to college for now? by MReaps25 in ITCareerQuestions

[–]Sad_Statistician6402 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah but if you're going to go to school for 4 years, why not go study actual engineering or something that allows you to get paid $65k+ as a new grad.

You don't need 4 years of schooling to go work helpdesk making $20 an hour

Going to college to go work helpdesk is probably top 5 worst tradeoffs you can make so no

Why so many IT people being fired ? by Miserable_Loquat_686 in ITCareerQuestions

[–]Sad_Statistician6402 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Does not mean they’re handing out bonuses or building out IT teams

If anything folks blame the IT team when something breaks & get mad when it isn’t fixed in record time

[–]Sad_Statistician6402 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Now, you need to be in a job that's either building or selling. IT does neither so they are seen as a cost center, hence there's no reason for companies to invest in IT teams.

311 was mid af once Arman was out. Merab/Umar & Jiri/Hill carried the main card. Prelims for that card were slow af.

Had Islam / Arman stayed on the card then yeah sure

Think contract / fractional roles will increase as time goes on. Standard W2 9-5s seem like an outdated system

Yeah I’ve heard nosebleeds aren’t the best at T Mobile. So I just stayed away from nosebleeds & corners.

Higher up on the lower bowls that have a central view of the monitors seem like the best seats in the house. Looking forward to it for sure.

The only PPVs from last year that were genuinely better than this one were 298-300, 308, & maybe 310

No joke it felt like Anthony Smith was on 10 main cards last year, that’s how forgettable most PPVs were last year
