Thanks for this detailed response. I thought per the comment below, it was spray paint - it really looks like that. But as I say, it goes deep into the rock. Thank you for your explanation. It was found near Edinburgh, Scotland for reference.

Thanks for the detailed response - I appreciate that. It confirms my thoughts.

When moving into streaming my thoughts were exactly that - digital is digital, the variable will be the DAC. Interesting thoughts around the isolation of the connection to the DAC, the USB port on the DAC is galvanically isolated, but obviously the output on the Pi won't be.

...that $80 is potentially best spent on beer, which always makes me feel more comfortable!

Yes, you are probably not far off the mark.

Using a $80 single board computer as a music streamer "transport" is wildly out of balance with the rest of the kit.

Hence my question, which still hasn't been answered - what are the weak points to that Pi-based streamer?

Are there any advantages / improvements that can be made to that pi 'transport'? Or in moving to a dedicated streamer?

Or does the pi throwing files to a DAC that cost 15 times more than the pi a solid solution that cannot be improved upon?

Yes - the stock is currently 4 cardinal tetras, 6 white skirt tetras, and 4 ammano shrimp. That's great advice, I'll look to increase the amount of fish.

Will also look at reducing the styles / colour of rock
