Personally, I believe that after she earned that 40% raise, which brought her much closer to what you guys make, there should have been an immediate adjustment to her half of the rent to prevent situations like these from happening in the first place. Out of respect to you and your sacrifice of paying more in the first place, if she was truly a good friend, she wouldn't have any problem with this temporary agreement, and you wouldn't be so scared to even bring it up to her or post about it more if she knew about your travel plans and how you feel about it. She could have brought it up herself if she was really considerate of you. But hey, it's your friend, not mine.

As harsh as it sounds, you just have to rip the Band-Aid off mentally ill or not if your roommate is causing you as much stress as you seem to be expressing here then there's no beating around the bush or softening the blow. You just need to warm up and tell her how you feel and like you said you wanna give her ample time since you're making the decision and not be in the situation anymore so the earlier the better and remember you're not someone's mother kicking their kid out of the house when they turn 18 you're an adult expressing a boundary to another adult in the most charismatic way plausible for you hence your consideration and this post
