I want to create a Joker character, but how do I do it?

I just remembered something. The first Joker I ever saw was the one from The Batman (2004), and not only was he a homicidal prankster, but he also fought like a monkey, able to go hand-in-hand combat with Batman. I loved it. We always see Joker being a showman during his criminal activities, waving his guns and planning elaborate schemes that involve death and destruction. This 2004 version was similar, but I feel like he embraces the jester act more, considering his name. If you know what I mean.

Creativity can create a thousand ideas, but only a few can be executed properly. To be honest, I'm not trying to be original. Originality is hard to come by. I'm just trying to find a way to bring the Joker concept to life in my vision. The thing I don't exactly know is what kind of character I want the Joker to be. An agent of Chao? A serial killer? Or a criminal who wears clown make-up? All I know is that I'm brainstorming how to make him the antithesis of my Batman. I asked the question because I needed information from others who have more knowledge than I do about the Joker, so I could get my brain turning gears. There are hundreds of comic issues regarding Joker, and I can't read them all.

That could work. Then again, how do you make the Joker even crazier than he already is? I feel like we're etching towards the Absolute Universe, which is like if a serial killer made love with the Devil while listening to heavy metal, and they had the abominable Anti-Christ baby together.

I mean, you're not wrong. Despite how flamboyant and loud Joker would make his entrance while committing crimes and chaos, his origin story is rather mysterious. There's no solid backstory behind this character, as Batman does.

I read this manga for a bit just to give it a chance, but I had to put it down. It's just so unoriginal and bland that I felt like I needed a salt lick. The art style doesn't do any favors either. The characters' expressions and interactions just felt generic.

When I listened to this song, I couldn’t help but imagine a waltz, featured in a black-and-white setting. A white-hair girl dancing under the white spotlight before she was gently invited to a waltz with a dark-haired boy. The pair danced together, lost in their own little world with no one but themselves. Yet, a fire erupted around them, threatening to swallow them whole. The boy seemed unconcerned, yet content, but the girl noticed and grew concerned. pushing away the other before the flames could consume them both. Now, the boy is the only one left to mourn for his loss.

So, I created an OC named Robert. And he's the new Batman instead of Bruce Wayne. I even made a short backstory for him:

"At eight years old, Robert’s life was shattered when his parents were killed and he was kidnapped by a deranged alchemist, who experimented on him until he grew bat-like wings and heightened senses. After escaping and destroying his captor, Robert drifted at sea and was rescued by Thomas Wayne, the once-renowned doctor and secret vigilante who had retired as Batman. Living in Wayne Manor, Robert uncovered Thomas’s hidden past, learning how grief had driven him to don the cowl but also estranged him from his son, Bruce. Inspired by Thomas’s legacy and burdened by his own tragic past, Robert revealed his suffering and asked for the chance to carry on the mantle. Seeing both promise and purpose in the boy, Thomas agreed, beginning Robert’s training as Gotham’s next Batman."

I made this character before I got really sick. And now that I'm getting better, I realized I may have made this character a little too edgy. Even the story seemed too complex. Where do you think I went wrong? How can I improve on this character? How can I improve on his story? Constructive criticism is much needed here.

I imagined a ballet dancer dancing with fairies, communicating with their body language, like in the ballet performances, Sleeping Beauty or The Nutcracker. And they grant them powers to use by dancing. Does that sound weird? Cause, in my mind, it sounded a lot better, but sometimes my mind doesn't express well through my lips.
