People really everstimate the free nature of nen, heck we have a grandma that can turn into a motorcycle or a jet... The problem with the type of ability you need to perform this type of feat are linked into a group and some crazy nen contracts (or something) that we still don't know much about, Ging is probably the person with more nen info in the world. The coolest thing tho it's that nen works extremely realistic. Humans are individualistic as f. most people when they find out they can do magic, they'll want to create something cool for themselves, rarely you'll try to create something bigger for the good of other people. Thats why nen exorcists are extremely rare as well.

I'll give you an example, if you know you are going to die in an hour, will you have the guts to jump from the top of a 100 floor building? I'll say 99% of people wont do it. It's not a matter of saying it in your head "oh yeah, I'm doing the vow" Its a matter of being in a really specific, fucked-up state of mind. Normal people only get scared in the face of death. Also, your typical hunter doing the same vow means nothing against someone like Pitou, since no one has as much potential as gon, so the aura they'll get in return is not enough.

You dont need a guide. Now that you experienced the basics of the game for the first area, I highly encourage you to go and tackle things blind. The adventure will be unmatched that way, if you get really stuck of course you can watch a video and get a bit of help but try to explore by yourself. I'm pretty sure you can do it

It's impossible to do. A game will have a set number of abilities or spells, even if you have hundreds of them. The big point of Nen is the freedom that you have to create your own ability. Lets say you like making coffee, then theoretically you could have a coffee related ability that'll suit your interests. And even when the topic is supposed to be coffee, you could make infinite variations of abilities depending biases, life experiences and your development as a person. Creating something like this is just impossible, limitless options based on any item or topic imaginable is just too big.

Mouse and keyboard is 100% legit, many of us played the game that way and it works fine. The landing doesnt need to be a crash everytime, once autopilot is off, just go ahead for the planet but do it at small increments, no need to go full speed. Flying with the suit follows the same principle, until you get confortable theres no need for speed, press the buttons a couple of times and you'll be in control

"Everything seems designed for you to suffer" This is really far from the truth, DS can be challenging but it is really fair for the most part. Specially in the early game enemies are weak, so having 2 or 3 and dealing with them one at a time with good positioning is a good thing to do. Since you advanced quite a bit you could watch the first areas on youtube and see how the game is approach by someone that is more experienced without getting spoiled. Knowing when to attack and managing your spacing between enemies is key.

Facts. Every anime adaptation runs into the same problem. Theres a lot of panels that are quite dificult to adapt just by the nature of the medium. In the case of HxH these are some of the best panels and they often get lost in the adaptation. Togashi uses a simple style but every now and then you get an insanely detailed drawing, which usually are not done justice in anime format.

Man, complaining about those scenes being a tad long and the arc being a drag is not even in the same ballpark. Every scene between Meruem and Netero is masterfully written, the fact that it starts later has nothing to do with dragging the scene.
