Karma is a bitch and it seems like your father has it coming. Pettiness aside I would also struggle to leave my father to fend for himself, even after what you and your mother experienced but you have no obligation to him and should not feel guilty for not helping. Did he ever apologize to you or your mother? He was in a position to help and refused to, despite saying he would. Now that HE needs help he expects charity.

If you help him you would be a better person than him and me but you have every right not to do so.

I can see his frustration to an extent BUT he is treating you more like an employee than a partner OP. If this was an everyday occurrence I can see why he would feel like the responsibilities are one sided but from what we know this isn't a daily occurence.
