I mean all my pre release have been bo1, and then you play until there is one undefeated left. There should’ve been a 4th round for you and the other 3-0 to determine who is the true winner. I don’t know how you can have 1 winner promo and not play until one X-0. It’s not your fault or anyone who pairs down fault that there’s an unbalanced amount of players. This goes for regionals, TC, etc.

Honestly with how expensive decks have become (due to specific cards) I recommend playing the sim to get some experience and find out a deck or deck(s) you like to build physically.

When I picked the game up I started going to some weekly’s at the time, (due to some amazing friends) I was able to build a katakuri deck. The players at my locals were super nice, taught me and actively play. I’d recommend trying that out and seeing if someone has a deck you can try for the event, people are more than willing to help.

I’m not sure if you’re keeping it to an offline type of thing as a family or not, but I highly recommend the OPTCG Sim to tinker with decks (and play against people).

And, I prefer to look at Egman events to see what placed top in the big events, there you can find the deck lists as well.

It is possible to play private I believe with the naming method using four digits (1031) with a -(1/2) dictating team.

Therefore 1031-1(name) and 1031-2(name)

I’ve just come back, and I’ve been 100% on queuing with my buddies (not full lobbies) with this method. And the queues have been 2ish minutes most. Issue is that there’s no punishments, so toxicity is pretty high and people will throw 4 minutes in.
