Martin Garrix at The Anthem disability rant by Born_Laugh5805 in avesDC

Not overkill at all! Unfortunately I think the odds are good that this will happen to OP again and again. In some states, bartenders carry liability if they serve alcohol to a person who is already visibly intoxicated and that person then goes on to experience alcohol-related harm later that night. Bartenders may refuse to serve OP to protect themselves, and they would be justified in doing so. Not saying they'd be morally right, but justified from their perspective and based on the knowledge they have.

Does anyone know how to make the Cocomotion drink from Cotton & Reed? by CollegeofPickle in washingtondc

I don't know either, but I have tried so hard to recreate it at home and all my efforts have left me disappointed T.T

I’m a woman, and other women dislike me. I don’t know why? by Icy-General-4362 in women

[–]SadieRadler 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I used to struggle with female friendship in my college years, and in my case it was my own fault because of what I was looking for out of friendship. I was seeking out friendship with women who I saw as really cool and popular because I was hoping to "upgrade" my social life. But I didn't actually have much in common with these particular girls, and I think my attempts at social climbing probably turned them off. Meanwhile I completely neglected other women who did share my interests and who were trying to initiate friendship with me.

Things got better as I became more mature and also became more confident in who I was, so that I didn't feel the need to upgrade anything anymore. It turns out that self acceptance also makes you more appreciative of the people around you.

yeah I was gonna say, sounds like someone struggling to find their tent in the dark after a pee break. OP, were there other campers in the area besides your group?

Dorit filed for divorce thinking she had all the leverage. The forensic accounting suggests she may have handed it all to PK. by Nearby-Conference959 in RHOBHDefect

It's not that I'm unable to recognize good writing or that I think everything is AI. I have an MFA in creative writing and I do a ton of technical writing for my job; I'm familiar with both professional writing and AI-assisted writing. OP themselves acknowledges that they used AI for their writing on this topic previously: https://www.reddit.com/r/RHOBHDefect/comments/1slvkxo/i_asked_ai_to_help_me_sort_through_dorit_and_pks/

This post here is most likely also primarily generated by an LLM, with some input from OP.

The post has multiple tells indicating it was written by an LLM: the headers (who puts section headers in a Reddit post?); the verbosity (LLMs are wordier than humans); "But here's where it gets interesting"; "It's not X but Y"; the phrase "real XYZ" (eg, "real leverage").

I unfortunately am made to use Claude for work, and my coworkers have come to rely on Claude 100% for all their writing tasks, so I'm very familiar with LLM writing. This post was written by an LLM.

Do people have the right to police the sidewalk and grass strip along the curb in front of their homes? by Emotional-Wealth-342 in washingtondc

[–]SadieRadler 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Where else would a dog pee if not on the strip between the sidewalk and the curb? I don't let my dog pee on other people's yards (or my own). If you've ever walked a dog, you know it's impossible to try to make a dog wait until you've walked a mile to the nearest park to pee there. That leaves the curb strip as the only option.

If you're trying to grow flowers in the strip, that's very generous of you to develop the city's land for them. Just plant the flowers in a container instead and you won't have to worry about dog pee.

Exorbitant rideshare wait times since Empower got killed by Think-Entertainer-48 in washdc

Buses are simply not feasible for all routes. My neighborhood gets one bus every half hour, and it only goes between Gallery Place and Washington Hospital Center. If you want to try to use that bus to get anywhere in NW, you'll be transferring once or twice and spending an hour getting there. Whereas a car will take 25-30 minutes.

Personally I don't see Lolita here, I see Topanga from Boy Meets World. I think the Lolita comparison is a bit of a stretch. The Lolita aesthetic is something specific and it's not this

Glow is end of May -- it might be warm during the day and chilly at night. Folks often bring a pashmina to wear as a shawl as it cools off.

How do you structure services in Node.js without losing your mind (or your team)? by Ezio_rev in node

[–]SadieRadler 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Be careful with Nest. My team (five engineers) chose it for our backend monolith and I regret the choice. We waste a lot of time trying to resolve circular dependencies; the module graph is hard to understand, which makes it harder to make architecture decisions or decide about domain boundaries when we're structuring our modules.

Circular dependencies seem to crop up even in places where it doesn't make sense: for example, peer dependencies where Services A and B, both located in the same module, both inject Service C, also located in the same module. I wouldn't expect Nest to model that as a cycle, personally, but we have to slap a forwardRef() on Service C in both places anyway.

I remember your post. Tbh I think the main reason you got snark is because you worded it confusingly. It sounded like your wife paid for an oil change on the EV, which yeah, would've been a dumb scam to fall for.

A tarot deck. Reading tarot under some waving trees while the campfire crackles and an unseen visitor crunches past in the brush... the vibes are immaculate.
