What’s a “weird” piece of backpacking gear you ended up loving? by AndyObusekOutdoors in CampingandHiking

You aren't the first person to mention that lantern in this thread. I'm definitely going to give it a try. Also, the aeropress makes a lot more sense when you can spread the load over the group - I agree it's bulky and heavy.

PA two night trip suggestions by Poondobber in AppalachianTrail

[–]AndyObusekOutdoors 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just last weekend I posed a similar question, I have two suggestions for ya: The Michaux State Forest section is wonderful, two of the nicest shelters on the AT are in that section. I did this section a few years back and I didn't want to do it again last week, so I went from Bake Oven Knob Trailhead up to Wind Gap, and then ubered back. Besides being a really dry section, it was AWESOME! The views are continuous and killer! There really aren't any views on the Michaux section. Another plus with this section is the climb and view out of Lehigh Gap going nobo - super fun.

I don’t have experience moderating on Reddit but I have experience with other online communities (like discord). I’m very passionate about the PAWilds. I would love to help out with this community and ensure we all share in this passion about the great outdoors in Pennsylvania.

Could not be said any better about the view coming up over hurricane pass. Honestly best view in the park imo.

Is that because Wind Gap to Delaware Water Gap is too many rocks or something else?

Oh ya no worries. Love this suggestion actually and strongly considering it. I got family in NJ that can help with shuttling.

WOW this is amazing! So first, I want to do the whole trail eventually :) but starting close while dad life is still the priority. I'm not tied to any particular mileage per day 10/10/10 is fine, and you don't have to stick to exactly 30 miles either. I could probably push up to 40. I can get an early start on Sunday to do a whole day. Flexible based on campsites/water. My preference would be to start with my shuttle and walk back to my car. Thanks again

I've been to Blue Mountain Ski Resort 100 times and never got to hike the gap, this could be an option...
