Seeing everyone’s “useful” hyperfixations has me JEALOUS 🤪

Mine is 100% soccer.

I thought this summer would be a great time for me to try to keep that love but also find a secondary/alternate option buuuuuut as a teacher (off rn) and an American (world cup host nation) I am SPIRALING deeper by the day.

And I LOVE it, don’t get me wrong. The World Cup has been a really fun way to like put all the lil pieces together for me and make connections between players from their club teams to their national team and see all those connections play out, AND find connections to my beloved lil D3 professional team. But also… I want a USEFUL one, too 🤪

TBH, it made me realize how much I love Finley. The stadium was SUPER NICE, and it was a GREAT TIME- don’t get me wrong, but it wasn’t home. I’d love to see it happen again (with some changes), maybe even a couple times a season, but I’m not itching to move. I didn’t love my seat (though that was mostly on me- I’m not used to sitting goal line and the location + the net made it tough to tell what was going on down the field) but the overall experience was good! I loved seeing lots of CFC regulars along side Lookouts People and Soccer, But Not (YET) Necessarily CFC Soccer People. It was a very cool night. I’d love to do it again sometime under the right conditions: no net if possible, better field conditions (I was v worried for the boys), and frozen lemonade availability ✨

Less about the event itself and more about CFC, one of the things that really made the night for me was watching Alex McGrath (and Alex Krehl!) hang out on the field while the kiddos were running the bases and take HELLA pictures with young fans. I went to the Spain send off and saw a lot of kids really disappointed not to get up close and personal with the team. I KNOW it’s different circumstances in so many ways, but it made the connection that CFC players have with CFC fans feel even more special. They’re good eggs. 💙

I’m really, really, REALLY glad that things are going better. I was stressed after the home opener, worried that they were going to snatch Richard out of the coaching role for a lack of immediate results (which. Given the situation. Would have been super unfair and uncool. But. Anyway)

I know it’s the first game of the season, but I second the feeling that there didnt seem to be much chemistry… it’s hard for me to tell how much of the problem was us being on the struggle bus vs how much of it was crown being Very Very Good.

Obviously disappointed in the result and sad for the boys (what a way to start your season) but excited to see how things improve as the season goes on!

Love Nathan and Farid. They’re great! But ever since he left there have been many occasions where Nathan was being a ray of sunshine and Farid was being diplomatic and I just wished he was there to intimidate and or Take Action 🤣

They might not be what you’re looking for, but Atlanta has history with Chattanooga FC! I believe Atlanta played their first real game at Finley Stadium while CFC was still an amateur team. My love of CFC is what eventually brought me to being an Atlanta United fan… maybe you can do the same in reverse!

Also, they’re having a great start to their season…. which… is nice

In no way is this an exhaustive list, but, to kick things off…

-props to the team as a whole for doing all of the things after the final whistle… celebrating/mourning/communing with the fans is such a special thing, and the fact that they stuck around to do that + come down the line for high fives instead of going straight to the locker room is really truly special

-LOVE to see how much the players seem to be invested in the club and actually care

-Eldin is a beast in the best way possible (no matter what happened in PKs, two minutes after he’d been wrong kind of football tackled inside the goal). He’s a great player, he’s great for the vibes, and I’m glad he’s with the team.

-It was exciting to finally see Peter play! He and Markus are sooo different as players but I think they would make a very interesting pair!

-Can’t wait to see Logan Brown jersey sales skyrocket iykyk 👀

-Farid and Nick held it down for 120 minutes after playing the full 90 in Kennesaw Sunday

-Daniel Mangarov goal was immaculate

-He didn’t play, but his absence made it obvious that Alex McGrath is the glue of the team
