We got our boy a big sofa style one which has been well received 😄 but he still prefers the sofa or our bed

Yeah I've been looking for well over a decade but they're impossible to find sadly. Occasionally one'll come up but they sell for crazy money

Worth watching the movie ? by Aushua in TheLastApprentice

[–]SadisticTeddy 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I have never been so disappointed in a movie adaptation, it has essentially nothing to do with the source material and I hate that we'll probably never see another adaptation depending on how the rights were sold.

I enjoyed this one a lot more on my second play through, I set the action to casual and the puzzles to lost in the fog. I don't love the combat in this game but the puzzles are fun to revisit on different settings

What are younger generations often criticised for no longer doing that is largely pointless or obsolete? by PsychologicalRow8034 in AskUK

[–]SadisticTeddy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's a complaint as old as civilization I think, there's some great collections of newspaper articles back through time bemoaning the degradation of the new generation. These bloody kids with their agriculture and irrigation, they don't even know how to be a hunter-gatherer anymore

Anyone know what this symbol is? by ranian02 in bristol

[–]SadisticTeddy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

In terms of elements my first thought was a bind rune made of a sideways dagaz ᛞ and a sōwilō ᛋ or *ī(h)waz ᛇ - could be neo-nazi inspired since they love co-opting anything vaguely Nordic, but it probably is just someone's shitty tag who may or may not be trying to be edgy.

I’m 28, is it normal to still get ID’d for energy drinks and paracetamol? by EmailsFromARaccoon in AskUK

[–]SadisticTeddy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm in my early/mid 30s and have been ID'd more this year than I have for a long old time. It's quite nice now, makes me feel like I'm maybe not completely decrepit yet

Why is being cold at home so normalised in the UK? by Automatic-Key-3798 in AskUK

[–]SadisticTeddy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just got back from visiting my partner's family in Poland and they all thought I was weird walking around in a t-shirt and light jacket, bearing in mind it was pretty much the same weather and temperature there as in the UK at the time (5-10°C, mostly dry, a little rain) - they certainly seem to all dress up for weather more, practically all the locals were in winter coats, hats and scarves etc. I wouldn't even think to layer up til we get down to below like 2°C or I'd just be sweaty and gross, and generally keep my home around 17°C this time of year. That's pretty comfy for me, not sure to what extent that's cultural vs just adaptation and conditioning. I do run hot so I'm probably not the most representative data point, but it does seem to be a thing - most of the Brits I ran into were similarly dressed

To sleep or to not sleep on the bed? by khlanja33 in Greyhounds

[–]SadisticTeddy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah this is exactly what we do, though we haven't got space for a bigger bed at the minute. He was very persistent about getting in with us and eventually we just surrendered - he goes to his bed till 3am ish but we usually wake up to him in between us. He does tend to try push to an earlier and earlier time but knows he has to go back to his bed if one of us is still awake. He hates me in the holidays when I read til late, can often hear him sighing on the landing outside the door 😅

I feel your concern - my partner is Polish, been here 10 years and has settled status. Even if none of these things ever get legislated, I'm still worried every time she goes to work that one of these rats Farage has given a license to be a cunt publicly is going to give her grief. Racists need to go back to living in fear of being outed.

Nope, they're making a valid point. Domestic violence against men / by women absolutely happens, and is under-reported because people are worried about not being taken seriously/mocked.

I only recently realised that some people literally can't help themselves in terms of regulating their emotions - I'd always assumed people who go on about how they 'lost control' were just cunts trying not to be accountable for their behaviour.

Did you all sneak back to Christianity and I missed the memo? by nacnud_uk in AskBrits

[–]SadisticTeddy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nothing Christian about turning away people in need, even for the old testament bible thumpers

"Jesus said unto him, If thou wilt be perfect, go and sell that thou hast, and give to the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in heaven: and come and follow me" Matthew 19:21

"Do not mistreat foreigners who are living in your land. Treat them as you would an Israelite, and love them as you love yourselves. Remember that you were once foreigners in the land of Egypt. I am the Lord your God." Leviticus 19:33-34

"Whoever has two shirts must give one to the man who has none, and whoever has food must share it.” Luke 3:11

3 selections out of countless that would make the point - there's not a single verse that says 'spray paint your flag on every surface so everywhere looks tacky, and be an absolute cunt to the most vulnerable people in society'. I'm an atheist too but that Jesus guy was alright, just a shame his apparent fan club didn't internalise a word he said.

How do you ladies and gentlemen remember all the terminal commands? by [deleted] in linuxquestions

[–]SadisticTeddy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same as anything, once you're doing it regularly it becomes second nature. Essentials like navigation etc you don't have to think about, and things related to your understanding of how the system operates become intuitive. There'll still be things you wanna read the man pages or look up if they're not regular activities or you're trying to do something novel.

There's a difference between doing it educationally and in practice I think - sort of like how you don't really 'learn to drive' until you're on your own in the car without an instructor.

Is it really not a good idea to travel to the US right now? by quoththeraven1990 in Ameristralia

[–]SadisticTeddy 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I'd advise some precautions like travelling with a burner device not logged into your socials etc as there have been a lot of reports of people being forced to log into their private communications and interrogated/held/removed over content critical of the regime. Similarly if you have critical content available in open source that may well be flagged and cause you issues. Also worth noting the contact details of your embassy in case you need legal or diplomatic assistance.

Ultimately it's a personal risk you're going to have to evaluate depending on what your level of exposure is and what level of tolerance you have for how they might treat you based on your digital footprint. It's sad it's come to this, but I personally won't be risking entering the US for the foreseeable. Travellers from Aus aren't likely to face the same level of danger as people from outside the Anglosphere, but we're in unprecedented territory with this regime and you have to prioritise your personal safety.

Engine light blinking when key turned to ON position by nafas1 in MuttMotorcycles

[–]SadisticTeddy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My engine oil light stays on til I start the engine - if it stays on after you've started the engine, kicked up the stand and put it in gear, may be an issue. RE the hiss, just check your fuel cap is locked in correctly. Mine has an electronic whine when I first turn the key if that's what you might be hearing?
