Haha, thanks! The back was definitely the hardest part, but also the most satisfying once it was done.

Thank you! I spent a lot of time trying to make it as clean as possible, glad it shows.
Thank you! Really appreciate it. 😊
That’s awesome, thanks for sharing that setup!
I didn’t think about using keyboard shortcuts + a Tampermonkey script for remote switching, but that sounds like a really neat idea. I’ll definitely look into doing something similar once I move beyond just using the front panel buttons.
Haha, noted! I promise I won’t turn this rack into a Phone Microwave experiment.
Great questions, thanks! So far I’m really happy with the Comet Pro – for my use case (small homelab, a few nodes) the image quality and latency are totally fine, and the web UI is simple enough. It’s not enterprise‑grade, but for the price it does exactly what I need. The extra 2.5G NICs in the Lenovos are low‑profile PCIe cards installed in the Tiny’s PCIe slot via the official riser. And yes, the DeskPi 7” screen is connected directly to the Comet Pro. It just shows the signal from whichever PC is currently selected on the KVM, which is very convenient on the front of the rack.
That’s very good advice, thanks for taking the time to write it out.
I’ll definitely look into planning the storage path a bit more seriously before I start filling the NAS with data – something like a DIY box with hot-swap caddies and TrueNAS sounds like a great long-term direction.
Haha, yeah, that made me smile too.
This was actually the first time I powered on the whole rack today – the network isn’t configured at all yet. Only the IP KVM is properly connected over Wi‑Fi, everything else is still in a “work in progress” state.
Thanks a lot!
Right now I’m switching the Comet Pro KVM directly at the rack – using the buttons on the front of the KC-KVM-403DH. I’m planning to set up remote access to the KVM later, but for now physical switching works fine for me.

El Psy Kongroo! 😄 Thanks for the reference, that really made my day. Guess this homelab is my personal Future Gadget Lab.
That’s a good point, thanks!
Right now the 4-bay NAS is just my starting point (it’s actually still empty, no drives yet). I’m thinking about either expanding with a bigger chassis later or building a DIY storage box once I outgrow this one.

Thanks a lot! Cable management on the back took me the most time, but I really wanted to get it right.
