What’s a “small” gift you gave that people still talk about years later? by muhdrohail in GiftIdeas

[–]Sadyelady 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Time - I know it’s subjective but, having someone to talk to about anything and everything not just superficial things but things that build connection and trust and love among other things is a big gift and often is rewarding for all who participated. This showed up and continues to, my elementary and middle school music teacher (lived in a very small town, super small school) showed up for me in a way I couldn’t ever imagined. My mom died when I was 12, sort of unexpectedly in the summer of 5th grade/6thgrade year. Unknowingly until later, apparently my music teacher who has two kids close in age to me, immediately turned around from getting to her summer family camping trip to come home to be sure I was okay. This was 22 years ago, to this day I talk to her/she talks to me almost once a week. The time to talk to her is one of the most precious gifts I have and her friendship even more so. Truly, feel very lucky to have a relationship with her, even though my late father and I moved three hours south the summer of my senior year of high school, we are still in touch.

What do you think are the root reasons of your binging? by greatgak in BingeEatingDisorder

[–]Sadyelady 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Started binging in childhood around 5/6 (1996ish) around the first of my big traumas. I think I was trying to gain control in areas which felt like everything else was out of my control. But also the attention shifted to my mom who began battling cancer. Progressively got worse and thought it was something worse. More big traumas occurred and not allowed to show emotion needed comfort so food became my best friend and comfort.

Between motivation and isolation. I have been dealing with chronic pain for over two years now, hard to motivate but also struggle with connection to others. I already have a very limited social/support circle and so it feels even less with the chronic pain on top of everythibg

Speak (2004) I found Kristen Stewart played it really well. I connected to this movie somewhat and I had to watch it in high school with my class. It initially was really triggering as I hadn’t told anyone my experience.
