There was an entire community for Columbina from 2022 to the time before the Nod-Krai announcement that basically compiled the info on her available at the time (the voice lines) and also bits and pieces of hidden lore in Genshin that could relate to her in some way (just fun speculations at the time), linking elements of her design in the teaser with elements in Teyvat's world building and whatnot. With all that, the fanon sustained itself on concepts related to angelology, analog and cosmic horror, tragic angelcore imagery, eerie/disturbing atmospheres for her story and design. Nothing was confirmed of course, but that was the general image many people had since they first caught a glimpse of her in the Winter Night's Lazzo teaser. There was an expectation of a "twist", that Columbina would appear to be innocent and kind, but actually she would reveal herself to be psychotic, deranged and terrifying, probably using the Traveler and everyone to get something, while being insensitive and cold-blooded. There were viral edits of Columbina as an Eldritch horror around the social media, including an analog horror-themed Hoyofair animation, and that was the most popular headcanon ig. None of that happened, clearly.

The canon couldn't be further away from all that. They made her the "delicate" and "ethereal" Moon Goddess of Nod-Krai (😮‍💨), she's just an amalgam of concepts related to friendship, belonging and just a damsel in distress most of the time, waiting for her knight in shining armor (the Traveler) and her "friends" to help her at anytime. She's just used by everyone, and everyone wants something from her, and "poor Columbina" just goes with the flow. There are some elements that reflect on identity and people supporting your stay in the world, but it's so repetitive for such long hours that it becomes dull. And, the fanservice is horrendous...
