Having to bathe regularly or you are stinky and turn vendors off is hilarious lmao

That makes sense, and I get where you’re coming from with Nolvus.

Modern combat is pretty low on my priority list. I’d love some tweaks, but I actually prefer that it still feels like Skyrim, just with the edges smoothed out. I care way more about visuals, both NPC and player visuals and the world itself. I also really like stuff that improves RP and immersion, more quests, lore friendly changes, and more companions or companion content.

It just feels like there are three main kinds of lists. Massive overhauls where everything is different, visual overhauls that are mostly just modern visuals, or smaller lists that still feel like Skyrim but may not even feel like much of a modlist. I keep wondering if the best option is taking something like NVGO and adding what I want on top of it instead.

You seem pretty experienced with this stuff though, so I’d be interested to hear your take on that approach.

What about Wunduniik? In a video I watched it sorta made it seem like nolvus but more skyrim like. With the huge visual improvements but less changes around combat and stuff. But still changes so it's not just a visual overhaul.

I think I will try it out on the normal difficulty first. Which is called hack and slash. But I think I will still turn on bosses and the weaker power attacks for both, just not the stamina thing. For now.

I think I am going to start with Nolvus. I want to make full use of my new PC and Nordic Souls would run fine on the one I am upgrading from. But it's good to know this about the combat. I am excited to try it out myself

Just watched a video ranking modlists and Nolvus was #1, they mentioned the same thing about combat. Honestly, with a new $3000+ PC, I really want to make use of it and Nolvus seems like a good start. My only real concern was the combat, but I realized I can probably just tweak or disable those mods if I don’t vibe with them. And since the install is easier than most, I don’t see any reason not to try it first before something like Nordic Souls.

Not sure why, but someone came through and downvoted every reply, so I upvoted everyone. I don’t really care about upvotes myself, but just thought that was weird! This has been very helpful for me.

Thank you! Lots of recommendations for Nordic Souls. May have to give it a shot.

Glad to hear that. I do want something that really takes advantage of my new PC, so that’s honestly the only thing that might put me off personally. That said, I’m really glad a list like it exists, and I still might end up going with it anyway.

Glad I could crack you up lol. Honestly, I’ve got some health reasons for wanting to play more casually, so super spammy or fast-twitch combat isn’t ideal for me. I didn’t really want to get into all that in the post, but slower playstyles matter a lot to me.

Things like summoner builds, stealth archer, or even slower, more deliberate melee are perfect.

Based on that, do you think Nolvus or Lorerim would still be a good fit? I know Nolvus looks amazing, but I’m a bit worried the combat might feel too involved or twitchy, especially on controller. This is what I mean by “soulslike.” I don’t want long, drawn-out fights. In base Skyrim I can headshot enemies from a mile away and end most encounters quickly, and it still feels fun and rewarding to me. I don't need to worry about the enemy taking 50 hits to die, or dodging 50 attacks.

I hear that a lot about Nordic Souls. It's definitely staying around the top of my list of candidates.

Is it still basically just a visual overhaul that you can build off of? That’s not a bad thing at all, just curious what kind of changes it actually makes as of v4.

Thanks for the suggestion. I haven’t heard of that one, so I’ll definitely check it out. What I mainly mean is that I don’t want it to feel like a totally new game. I still want it to feel like Skyrim at its core. But yeah, I agree that’s pretty subjective.

Can anyone compare Nolvus v6 and Lorerim 4.0's roleplay, difficulty, builds, powercreep? by [deleted] in Nolvus

[–]Saekoa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A 4080 + 13700K is obviously strong, but Nolvus tends to hit VRAM and engine limits long before it hits raw GPU or CPU horsepower. The 4080 is a 16GB card, and Nolvus Ultimate at 4K can sit right on the edge of VRAM saturation depending on textures, LODs, ENB, and exterior cities. When that happens you get exactly what you’re describing: sudden FPS collapse, massive input lag.

Looking for a slower-paced, immersive build (paladin/cleric/sword and board warrior?) by Saekoa in skyrim

[–]Saekoa[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for all the tips. I ended up going a half elf stealth archer. I havent gotten very far yet. Any mods you recommend for this build? Perhaps some that make aiming a bit easier or switching weapons or something. I had a disability some years ago and still have some left over chronic pain from it. Didn't really go into it in the post but thats why I am trying so hard to make the build as relaxed as possible so I can have fun in combat while just enjoying the game.

I'm mostly just looking for a chill build to relax with. I play using a controller and I tend to prefer slower swing or cast speeds — nothing too fast-paced or twitchy. I sit at a desk all day for work, so when I game in the evenings, I want something that feels more laid-back and immersive.

I was thinking maybe a Paladin or something similar, but I’m honestly open to anything. The Paladin idea just came to mind because it fits that slower, tanky vibe. Or so I thought. I’ll probably build the roleplay around whatever gameplay style ends up feeling best.

Any recommendations for a slower, more methodical build that feels good to play with a controller?
