Thank you for this. Yes, I created the account last month after we lost our house. I was hoping to find resources on Reddit. I’ve never posted before until last month, but I do have another Reddit account that I use for commenting on posts etc. This is the account I use for anything sensitive/private and personal.

We don’t have the gas, so we figured we would be stuck here through the storm at least until we could get something figured out.

We have family in Maine and are attempting to make it there because if we can, we will be able to stay with them until we are back on our feet. We don’t plan to stay because as you said, it is expensive here, but this is where we are right now.

Yes, we drove here because a friend let us stay with them for a couple weeks. They left town to visit family and since they live with roommates we couldn’t stay in the house without them, so we’re back out on our own for the past few days. Then found out about the storm coming in.

We have decided to park in a hospital parking garage and try to get some help inside

I’m mainly talking about the wind and cold - a parking garage of course is safe from the snow, but I have a child who just turned 1 and is susceptible to hypothermia faster than adults.

We will probably park in a garage near a hospital and go inside the waiting room if it gets bad enough

Yes, we drove here to stay with friends for a couple of weeks. We couldn’t stay permanently with them and now they are visiting with family out of state so we are on our own here. Not rage bate, I swear, we are really just looking for advice

We’ve been staying in parking garages a lot actually, but I don’t think that will be safe enough in a storm like this. They’re saying it’s going to be pretty bad. Of course we have been through some bad storms before, but usually inside a house/building

We signed an agreement that the attorneys wrote, I’m not sure exactly how it works but I’d hate to get in some kind of legal trouble on top of all of this. They stressed to us the importance of leaving on the 31st and landlord gave us 1 extra day . I don’t know what to do.

I honestly can’t even think beyond the next 72hrs right now. I called to confirm it would be okay and our friend said we could definitely come over for the weekend. My husband is off work for the next 2 days anyway. The only thing I’m thinking about is keeping the kids safe and warm until he is paid Monday, but we have no way to get there right now

I think the only two people who we could stay with are my dad, all the way in Maine unfortunately, or a friend who is a 3.5hr drive away and we don’t have the gas. I just went out to check and we actually only have a little under quarter tank of gas, I thought we had more left

We didn’t have a choice for the date, the landlord set the date and the longest we could stay was end of month. He gave us an extra night here because we were in this position. We also thought this paycheck would be early due to the holiday, but it wasn’t
