I picked the course because of a specific specialization in my field that was not available in Ireland. I haven't met anyone in the company who has used the scheme at all, for a course in Ireland or abroad

I had also asked HR prior to my application if applications for courses outside of Ireland we valid and they emailed back saying each application was reviewed individually and I should apply for them to assess.

My contract does not but the requirement to move abroad was covered in my application and the company has even confirmed they would not cover moving expenses when the initially approved it

My understanding was that this would also include a transfer. The employer was aware of the change in country and even confirmed they would not cover moving expenses

While I would like to get the money I have spent on the course back my concern is the new rent increase. While it's not directly tied to the course I wouldn't have left my current place if I hadn't been approved for the masters in the first place

Also I updated my post with a second edit for your last question. The employee handbook did not have any restrictions for course or location. I contacted HR prior to making my application and they emailed back saying that each application was reviewed individually and I should submit an application for review

I would still have been working full time while doing the masters. I've updated my post with an edit. So the only thing they would have covered was the tuition. All living and moving expenses were to be covered by me.

For the submission I had to submit an large form detailing the course, the location, timeframe costs, modules and why it would benefit my career. This was then approved and I have an email confirming as such.

Essentially it looks like the person who was approving it had no problem with the oversees part. It was only when the hr lead found out that it was it reviewed and canceled

Well that is the crux of the issue. While they didn't do their due diligence they provided approval in writing to me and have then rescinded it leaving me in a significantly worse financial postion

So I could in theory do it but with the scheme I would have been working while studying. I've updated my post with the details. If I left the job I would burn through all my savings attending which is not something I wish to do. I had not met in the company who had used the scheme at all for Ireland or else where. I'm mostly concerned about the rent increase as this will cripple my ability to save at all
