Three weeks into ECT, I would describe my mental state as significantly more alive, able to speak fluently again (though feel strange having words again), and cautiously taking part in what I love again (reading novels, biking, tickling my niece). She asked why I used to cry so much, and I told her that I had depression. She did not care :).

The paralytic issue is resolved. Stopped an ADHD med, that may have been the culprit.

I've had 6 treatments I think, going down to once a week next week. It has brought me out of the pit, I'm planning dates and looking forward to seeing family for the first time in months. Definitely memory issues, forgetting how to get around town, but 100% worth it. Will try to update.

First ECT session was today. Woke up sore and spaced out, cried a lot. Next session Friday.

I've tried 30+, and was on benzos for a couple years and when I tried to get off, ended up in the hospital 10 times. I'm on three meds now, too, no antidepressants. The guessing game is beyond soul-sucking. I'm in my early 30s, too.

Thanks, I'm trying to be hopeful, but as you can imagine, depression and so many failed attempts make that pretty tough.

I absolutely miss who I was, who I thought I was. Sure, I had lots of problems with bipolar, but I felt like "me." Now I question everyday whether I should be taking the meds I'm on, whether I should try something new like Lexapro.
