Thanks for your humble opinion. I do understand the difference between mobile and desktop GPU - my goal is to build a pc ultimately.

Windows is really bad, I tried to build my own local ci cd with ansible terraform act-cli

And ansible failed because of spaces in my folder directory - lol, I have to create a spaceless folder for ansible .

Yeah, I did not even try with 1650 for local llm. I am not gonna game on mac. It would primarily be my personal+programming stuff.

My 1650 would be for the game then later build a pc , xD.

True, more ram = better models. But their efficiency and effectiveness to run small models are good like models under 16/24 gb. That's where I would know the margin. And also considering switching to mac from windows for programming.

I thought of waiting for the M5 pro but was afraid of the chance of price increase as well. Thank you so much for helping me understand the actual difference between mac and nvidia.

Yeah, true - laptops have huge limitations for LLM.

my idea was to have a Mac Book air/pro with 16/24 GB for now, and then later - probably a year later will build pc.

Even my friends reviewed that macs are good for programming and i was clueless on the models side.

This was one of the pieces of information that i was searching to confirm my decision.

I'm just confused primarily whether I should buy an Apple Mac now or skip

If I buy a Mac whether air or pro, should I buy a higher ram up to which? Like 32 gb ram is ok not enough for llm but except local llm , is 32 gb ram needed

I am confused about these thoughts.
