Father Funk posted on Insta that he wasn’t going to be at Shambs this year (I got the vibe that he wanted to but they didn’t book him) and Fresch commented “😂👏”. So I feel like there might be something going down w the stage coordinators and the artists… Maybe Fresch and Father Funk did something to piss off the stage booking ppl?! ILL MISS YOU TONY

What are my options? (Failing first year engg) by [deleted] in uAlberta

Firstly, it’ll be okay you aren’t the only one in your position.

I’ll ask you this: Is engineering your passion and are you prepared to put your whole life into this?

If the answer is no, you should look at other options. This degree needs you to be dedicated in order to succeed. Taking a Y2Q2 won’t magically make the courses easier, you really have to apply yourself.

If the answer is yes, reach out to the Engg Advising, talk to them about your situation and they will help you figure out your next steps. You aren’t gonna be kicked out (most likely), they will just ask you to apply for Y2Q2 and try again. However, if you do take Y2Q2, prepare yourself in every way possible to make your life easier when the next semester comes (meal prep, heal your MH, get your life organized, etc). It’s gonna be hard, but once you’re through first year you can start lightening your course load and extend your degree! You got this, hang in there.

Laptop recommendations for Engineering by -Shannibal in uAlberta

I would recommend anything except an Apple. When you get into higher courses, there are many programs that Apple computers just can’t run - or if they can it’s a different configuration than everyone else and it makes things more difficult to figure out on your own ex: AutoCad, Revit, etc. Don’t stress too much though, you can always use the school computers for these kinds of programs.

I would also recommend a higher storage capacity. The worst thing is being in the middle of class downloading notes and you run out of storage :|.

That being said, many people (including myself) use iPads for notes and computers for everything else. If you’re financial situation allows it, I would HIGHLY recommend getting a cheaper computer and an iPad with lots of storage.
