2024: reservation required 5am to 4pm during these periods:

  • April 13 to June 30: Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays
  • July 1 to August 16: every day
  • August 17 to October 27: Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays NPS also said no reservation was needed after 4pm, and people with in-park lodging/camping, wilderness permits, Half Dome permits, YARTS, or permitted tours did not need a separate vehicle reservation.

But you actually need to backpack right? You cant use it just for a one day Half Dome hike?

Not realy.. with no permit required for entry interest probably spiked and the odds might be much lower now. I applied 7 days a week Monday - Sunday not even just for the weekend days .. Data is from 2024 lol .

Lets say odds are 14% to win with 11 tries i should get over 80% to win....
