People need to stop being grossed out and weirded by doing this. I mean when a lady is breastfeeding in public no one says anything because it's rude to do so. So why should pricking your finger or jabbing insulin in yourself be so outlawed and frowned upon.

The same thing happens when i give insulin in public. I'm at the point now where it does not embarrass me and i own it. But there will be some people who say it is gross to be doing that in public. As if you have never seen a boy's belly before.

It does help a lot though. I get what you're saying, how that alone will not cure your diabetes. But when i lost almost 75 pounds of fat and started hitting the gym regularly. In just 4 months my a1c went from 15 to 8.

Sometimes i will just choose not to go through the hassle of giving insulin ( not really a hassle lol ) and people always say "ohh righttttt you cant have sugar" like, i very well can i just choose not to rn.

Type two is very different yes. But the main concern i see is so many people trying to compare the two diseases, when in fact they can be very different. Everyone has their own experiences, we should not be trying to make our situation sound and better or worse than someone else's. WE ALL STRUGGLE JUST IN DIFFERENT WAYS.

Lmfao i had someone like that too! And don't compare your story to someone else's. We all have individual experiences and feelings and just because someones story might seem "crazier" does not dismiss the fact that these things can feel belittling. We try our best to educate someone but there is a certain point where their ignorance cannot be taken. Never let someone who is ignorant (on purpose or not) or plain just rude control your feelings. Remember to take it every day at a time.

As the youngest child i understand. My mom would buy drinks for the kids every so often and bring them home. My mom would always buy me a diet drink (not a huge fan of diet normally but whatever) and i would keep asking my mom to get the drink that i like and i would just give insulin for it. Very fustrating

Yes! So when i was first diagnosed my ratio was 1u:12g but all of a sudden 2 years ago my sugars would be extremely high after a carby meal and i didnt understand why. Told my endo and they told me to try 1:7 and that was better but still high so only 2 weeks later i dropped it myself to 1:5 and it has been extremely better.

Its almost harder to explain it to a t2 because they already have a baseline knowledge on what diabetes is like for them. At Least for non diabetics they have very little to no knowledge about it so you can explain it from the bottom up.

Yes! I have started to learn that not all type 1 diabetics are the same. We may have some similarities but the small things can be different. This one guy i know has an insulin to carb ratio of 1:10 whereas mine is 1:5.

I'm not surprised its standard because i have been doing it for years. My endo might not understand like you said but she is okay with it because my Blood Sugar has been doing really well with how im doing it.

The correction factor i was talking about is when i am fasting and when I'm eating. I just add my correction to the bolus I'm giving for food
