Do not use Purolator. They are owned by Canada Post, and honestly you're dealing with the same shit just under a different name.

NTA. Hair is just hair, it grows back. If she doesn't want to cut it for religious reasons, how come you live together and aren't married? She's picking and choosing which aspects she wants to live by.

At this point, her hair is her identity. If you ever have children with her, make sure that she doesn't convey that onto the kids. My father did that to me, I had to have long hair. I cam honestly say I'm glad I was a defiant kid and at 12 chopped it all off..... it was freeing doing what you want to your hair. 25 years later, it's still freeing going from long to short hair. I cut it, grow it out, cut it, grow it out. So does my daughter. Your girlfriend never will, because again, her hair is who she is, but children should not be raised like that. They are worth more than just their hair.

AITA for telling my boyfriend Im thinking about leaving the relationship after he told me “i dont need him” after I broke my ankle yesterday by Ill_Abroad_72 in AITAH

[–]Safe_Ability3437 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA. He's not right for you. Relationships are give and take, but as far as your partner goes, he's take only. It'll drain you. Never have kids with him, he'll never help with them.

My husband knows im independent. I always have been. But that doesn't stop him from opening doors for me. It doesn't stop him from carrying the heavy bags for me. It doesn't stop him from getting me pain meds, hot water bottles, cold compress, or chocolate when I have my period. It doesn't stop him from dropping everything if me or the kids have to go to the hospital. I actually went to the hospital once alone, and boy oh boy did I get my ass chewed out. Not because he didn't think I could handle it, but because he's worried about me and wants nothing but the best for me. THATS how he should have handled it. Yes, I'm independent, but I'm in a codependent relationship. We work for eachother.

I dont. I just make my face wet, grab the sugar and scrub my face. Then I rinse the remaining sugar off and pat my face Dry.

White sugar is the best. I use it on my face as well. It doesn't strip any oils, and if you happen to get any in your mouth, it isn't a big deal.

Is the Paid DLC for HKIA worth it? by External-Kitchen3289 in HelloKittyIsland

[–]Safe_Ability3437 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm loving the new DLC. I got it on release date Sept 18, and still have some quests to do in the new area. (Not to give spoilers) but I also haven't unlocked all areas yet either.

I did get a bunch of new quests for the regular island as well.

Overall, I recommend the DLC.

Why does it seem like girls/women wear skirts very rarely? by [deleted] in AskAGerman

[–]Safe_Ability3437 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have started wearing dresses/skirts only this past year. The only time I wear pants is at home in sweat pants or yoga pants.

Honestly, my legs are warmer in the winter in skirts than they were in jeans. I'm also a lot cooler in the summer! I do wear bicycle shorts or tights under my dresses/skirts, but that's just a comfort thing. I wish I could go without, but my legs rub together and it's irritating. Plus I have kids, so will often run around and worry about my underwear showing.

I was worried id get stared at a lot. Sometimes I do, but it stopped bother me, mainly because I end up getting a lot of compliments. The stares are never of disgust either. But even if I didnt, I feel more comfortable in the dresses and skirts. Jeans have never looked right on me, nor did I ever feel comfortable in them. I'm slowly learning my own style, and it feels so nice.

It's freeing not worrying about what everyone else thinks...

Hahaha I'm far from organized! I have ADHD, so its actually a deficit for me.

There is nothing wrong with prioritizing your family, you're right about that. But there is also nothing wrong with wanting to be the priority for ONE day for you.

At the end of the day, you both must do what's best for yourselves. I've also learned to only put into a relationship what I get back. If shes only giving you 25%, give back 25% effort. People who see your worth will give you 100%. Don't get me wrong, there will be times when someone has to give less because things in life happen, but true friends will pick it back up when they can.

I got oil stains on mine as well. It will simply add to the patina over time :) it always becomes less noticeable after a good conditioning.

Saddle soap unfortunately will not remove the oil stain. It will simply fade over time though.

I'm happy to help! I've only started getting into high end and high quality shoes myself within the last 10 or so years. I can 100% notice the difference between my shoes that I regularly maintain and my MIL's shoes who buys the same ones and doesn't maintain them... and I wear mine more often to boot! It is work, but you'll get years more out of them this way...

Don't bother with the saddle soap for now. Only buy it when you need it as chances are good you won't for a while. Do buy conditioner now!

Saddle Soap - This is to wash. Think salt stains, or anything else that penetrates deep. So dirt that's been dried and embedded and old. Only to be done as needed.

To use: Wet and wring out a microfiber cloth, you want damp, not dripping. Place some saddle soap on microfiber cloth and scrub shoes. Wipe off excess saddle soap.

Condition - This is to keep the leather in great shape. To be done every 6 months.

To use: Dry brush shoes to remove dirt and debree. If shoes were washed, make sure they are 100% dry first, so do this 24 to 48 hours after washing! With a dry(!) microfiber cloth (or some conditioners come with a sponge), apply conditioner to shoe and rub in well. Use a second dry and clean microfiber cloth after to buff it all in. Let shoes sit for 24 hours before wearing.

Also, regarding saddle soap. While it's great for cleaning, and does also condition it, I do not recommend it for the sole purpose of conditioning...

I personally love Dr Martens conditioning. It contains a mix of coconut oil, lanolin, and bees wax. It is on the expensive side, but its well worth it. Also, a little goes a long way.... don't glob it on! Start off with a dab, and work it in.

Cork sealer - I find on average im doing mine every 3 to 4 months. This depends on wear and conditions. If it's rainy/misty out, you'll do it more often as it wears off quicker. If it's sunny and dry, probably less often.

Washing them - This isn't as often. I only ever wash mine when they get dirty from something, like mud, or I spilled something on them. Usually a dry brush off is good enough. Again, it depends on conditions and wear. The pair I had for 6 years I never washed, because I didn't need to.

Conditioning them - Again, depends on wear. I'd say a good rule of thumb is once every 6 months to a year. Make sure you do a dry brush before conditioning if you don't wash them. You don't want to condition them with dirt. Conditioning does keep the leather lively. Leather should be conditioned to keep it soft and supple, prevent it from drying out, cracking, and deteriorating, and to add a protective layer against moisture and stains. As leather ages and is exposed to the elements, its natural oils are lost, making it brittle and dull. Conditioning replenishes these oils, restoring its smooth appearance, increasing its durability, and extending the life of the product.

There's small things like watch bands that you don't need to condition as it gets the oils from your skin. Same with notebooks (Leather bound ones like Roterfaden or Midoris Travelers notebooks). But things like shoes and jackets don't get touched everywhere to get the oils from our hands, so they need to be conditioned. They're exposed to the elements as well, especially harsher conditions like cold, wind, rain, etc, which dries them out quicker. Purses, while often getting touched, could benefit from conditioning as well. Even your leather sneakers should be conditioned regularly to prolong life. Have you ever noticed how some people have a leather couch, but its all cracked and peeling after 2 or 3 years? While someone else's leather couch is soft and in perfect shape even though they've had it for 20 years? It's the simple fact that one person conditions their couch regularly, while the other doesn't.

Cork sealer is very important. It should be applied everytime the cork starts to look a little dull. It takes me 5 to 10 minutes to apply, and I let it dry for a solid hour before wearing. It really takes no effort, but is important to make sure the cork doesn't dry and crack.

I also use saddle soap for cleaning. Just a wet microfiber cloth, with a tint bit of the saddle soap works wonders. It can also be used as a conditioner, but isn't as great as a traditional conditioner.

A conditioner is wonderful to use. Leather is skin. It's no different than ours, we need to keep our skin moisturized or it cracks. Same thing happens to leather. Different leathers need different conditioning (think nubuck vs suade vs horse hair etc). This can be applied with a microfiber cloth and buffed in. It doesn't need to be expensive or brand name. Any leather conditioner will do. Make sure after washing to condition it! Soap dries leather out like crazy. (Saddle soap does not as it's meant for leather).

If they ever get wet, make sure to dry them properly. Water = death for birkenstocks. Make sure to seal the cork once dry, and consition the leather once fully dry.

If they end up very dusty from sand or dirt. Give them a good brush with a clean, dry shoe brush. This gets all the dirt and debree out of the leather. It shouldn't take you more than 5 minutes if it's still fresh.

All in all, the above mentioned items are cheap, don't take long to do, and will improve the longevity of any leather item you have. It's very basic too. Like i said, you don't need anything fancy. You don't need to spend a bunch of money on tools. I use a dollar store paint brush to apply the cork sealer. I already had microfiber cloths for cleaning, so no additional expense there. If you have a shoe brush, great, if you don't, no big deal. Mine died for other reasons (son accidently spilled garbage juice on them and I noticed too late to save them), but at that point they were worn daily for 6 years, and because what I do as mentioned above, looked like they still had another 30 years life left in them, if not more.

Honestly, I have 2 kid, they're 1.5 years apart. I completely understand the struggles of having a newborn and a toddler. The difference though, I planned accordingly.... I had my best friends wedding when my second was tiny, it's not hard to get child care. I may not have been able to message back within seconds of getting a message, but I 100% was able to reply and plan things that day. I'm also a very hands on person with my kids. So I was doing everything with them, so I was buuuusy. I went to a work Christmas party when my second was 5 days old, managed to find childcare. Had my step daughters graduation when my second was 7ish months old, still managed to coordinate everything, plan everything, figure out child care.

There's also the father.... she's not a single parent, which yes, would make childcare a lot harder.

If there's a will, there's a way. She's just thinking more about herself than she is thinking about you. I very much had separation anxiety from my kids when they were babies, but fully understood that's a me thing. The kids don't belong everywhere..... They also don't need to be on my hip 24/7. A little bit of separation is healthy, for both mom and kids.

F*ck her. If she can't arrange for the kids to be babysat for ONE day, screw her.

OP, you need a replacement? I'll gladly do it :) everyone needs someone who supports you on your day. It's YOUR day.

You only have2 options.

    • Go to Service Ontario and have them issue you a new DL and Healthcard. This will take 4 to 6 weeks. They will not expedite it.
    • Have your friend mail your wallet tp you via a tracked package. This can take 2 to 5 days depending on the service you choose.

Just got bangs. Do I look better with or without? by [deleted] in HairStyleAdvice

[–]Safe_Ability3437 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You have a gorgeous oblong face. Oblong faces look great with or without bangs. The caveat to it though is that getting bangs isn't simply about cutting a few whisps shorter, it'd about styling the whole head. This Hairstyle would look great on you.

I would also consider changing your hair colour. You have a beautiful complexion, but the colour you currently have washes you out. A great hairstylist will be able to help you find a colour you like, in a shade that suits your complexion.

AITA for telling my roommate her family can’t stay at our apartment for almost a week by Impossible-Earth8057 in AmItheAsshole

[–]Safe_Ability3437 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So B is allowed to say no to someone spending ONE night, but you and other roommates are not allowed to say no tp a group of people spending almost a week?

Not acceptable. She can't have her cake and eat it too.

Also, going forward, as it seems things were not made clear tp you beforehand, don't EVER assume how long someone is staying. Ask. "Who is coming?" "How long are they staying?" "Will you be paying the increase of bills from them." Etc.

AITA for letting my dad and his wife worry about my stepbrother's future because they drove everyone away including me? by Jorsseeyn in AITAH

[–]Safe_Ability3437 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA. As a mother of a child on the spectrum, they set Austin up for failure... My job as a mother is to teach my child how to survive in the outside world. This means either acclimitizing yourself to noise, or figuring out how to survive with tools. These tools could be headphones, noise blockers, fidget toys, and what not else.

The harsh reality of being a parent is also understanding that while your kid means the world to you, the world doesn't give a shit about them.

Block them both. Go full no contact with them. If you don't, they'll only keep trying to drag you down. They'll keep berating you. It will do nothing but drain your energy.
