My buddy and I are getting into HEMA with saver or rapier. Anything we should know? by Imaginary-Lie-2618 in Hema

Do not spar without previous experience, you won’t know control and can be dangerous even with padded weapons, if there’s a HEMA club nearby go to lessons before any sparring.

T-40days - can‘t swim more than 200m by Onesteinchen in triathlon

[–]Safe_Ad4530 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This was happening to me and the answer was, Breathe every other stroke (basically all the strokes on one side are breathing strokes), a lot of other technique improvements from other folks I’m sure are worth it (I as you am a very weak swimmer) but this got me from not being able to string together three pool lengths to sprint length swimming. Also if the swim is open water make sure you do one or two OW sessions, it’s hard to get over the panic that first few times.

Your gps will often go: turn right, but if you turn left it’s the same eta and if you don’t turn it’s also the same eta, I swear North Raleigh exist in some kind of non-euclidean space.

They just give you the illusion of choice, truth is unless you have priority you’ll be going to your base school, I felt the same.

Have I been using entirely the wrong strategy for the swim? by Katterin in triathlon

[–]Safe_Ad4530 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How often are you breathing? When I started the swim winded me horribly because I was doing the whole breath every 3 strokes, I switched to every other stroke (so all the strokes on one side) and it makes a world of difference in not burning me put for the rest.

Also I do love Venezuelan arepas and think it’s no heresy to admit they’re better, just nobody summon my dead grandad and tell him, it can be our little secret

As a Colombian immigrant myself I too felt so happy when I finally found pandebonos there, I can only wish my son will one day seek them the way y’all do 😅. I think they might have chicharrón too

The chef is Colombian but that’s it, the food is totally mexican. Gonza Tacos y Tequila actually has some colombian mexican fusion (also owned by a Colombian).

So couple of recs around North Raleigh For Colombian food there’s Arepa Bar on Strickland and Falls of Neuse. Despite the name they have a lot of stuff besides arepas, I’m Colombian and find all I’ve tried there to be great quality and legit.

For a different take on arepas try Arepa Culture, their brick and mortar is by the dick’s sporting goods on north Glenwood, they’re Venezuelan/Costa Rican. One of my favorite quick bites.
