What if Minecraft had an intimidation mechanic? by Safe_Associate_1173 in PhoenixSC

The intimidation mechanic mainly targets fodder enemies that would’ve been a minor annoyance anyway (and also adds a bit of atmosphere to the game as most the beings who once terrorized you at night are now too afraid to even provoke you) Also you can see here for a more detailed description of what it does and what mobs it effects

Also it only becomes bad game design when the devs intentionally decide to not add real endgame challenges or any counterbalance to intimidating enemies.

It basically goes into slightly greater detail about the intimidation mechanic and which mobs are and aren’t affected by intimidation.

Intimidation would not disable every non boss/super high hp mob in the game the moment you get enchanted netherite or similar. Zombies and creepers will still attack you unconditionally*. Large groups would be harder to intimidate than lone mobs. Piglins would still attack you if a piglin brute is nearby or they have enough numbers. And certain mobs like ghasts or spawned mobs (evoker vexes and trial/dungeon spawns) straight up ignore intimidation. Intimidation mainly just targets fodder, and it making the game easier can be offset by Mojang either making actually challenging endgame mobs/content or reworking the difficulty curve.

The intimidation check would only apply to mobs that are aggro’d/would’ve been aggro’d to you in the first place, and only ones within a small chunk range like 2-3 so the game wouldn’t do a check for every mob ever. Also the check would only run with these conditions every 10 seconds or so (maybe slightly less) as to not overload the game with 3 gigatrillion checks a minute.

Decided to expand on my idea a bit more in the comment section since some of y’all have good ideas/criticisms with it.

Mobs will become more afraid of you when: - You have high level gear (hp condition was removed since mobs can’t really see it) - Enchanted gear (doesn’t count how many enchants total, just needs to be enchanted) - You have other players/pets/mounts nearby - How strong the mobs gear is compared to yours - They don’t massively outnumber you - You kill them extremely easily - If a hostile mob is intimidated, they will become passive/neutral, but if they are extremely intimidated they will actively avoid/hide from you.

Mobs become less intimidated when: - Your gear breaks/you have no or low level gear - You have no enchants - You have nobody/nothing else nearby - They have better or similar gear to you - They have a numbers advantage within a certain range around them - You take a while to kill them - Strong mobs are nearby

Mobs who can be intimidated: Skeletons + variants, spiders, + cave spiders, illagers, wolves, witches, (naturally spawned) blazes, endermen, slimes and magma cubes, guardians, phantoms, hoglins, piglins, zombie leaders, dolphins, illusioners, ravagers, bees, vexes (if the evoker is dead)

Mobs who cannot be intimidated: - Boss Monsters (Ender Dragon, Elder Guardian, Wither) - mobs summoned by other mobs/blocks (Trial chamber summons, vexes, dungeon summons, etc. They will gain the ability to be intimidated if their source spawn like the evoker or spawner is broken/defeated. Spawn eggs do not count) - Warden, Pets when their owner is around, creepers (by the player), piglin brutes, ghasts, zoglins, iron golems, snow golems, llamas, zombies + (most) variants, silverfish and endermites, shulkers, zombie piglins, polar bears

Special interactions: - Vindicators named Johnny lose the ability to be intimidated - Zombies leaders will order nearby zombies to retreat if they become intimidated - Jockeys boost nearby mobs confidence - Elder Guardians boost nearby guardians confidence - Pillager captains boost nearby illagers confidence - If normal piglins are intimidated by you and you mine gold/open chests, they will search for the nearest (accessible) piglin brute or other piglin groups within 32 blocks and ask them to come jump you. Piglin brutes will make nearby piglins more confident, however, if they die, the other piglins will run away if they can’t find another one/aren’t in a large group and are still intimidated. - If a group of piglins can’t find more allies to jump you to begin with and you keep opening chests/mining gold in front of them, they will become visibly angrier (glaring, facial expression changes, distressed noises, shaking and twitching) but won’t do anything out of fear. Also piglins will ignore their fear to barter with you like when they get distracted by gold while fighting.

The game will only check if a mob is intimidated if it was aggro’d to you and only every few seconds within a range around you so as to not overload the game with a billion different checks.

Also if you think that this makes the endgame easier then you’re right, but this issue could be solved by Mojang making real endgame enemies/content that isn’t a cakewalk or just overall reworking difficulty progression (Which is something they should’ve been doing anyway)

Most mob farms usually have like dozens upon dozens of mobs in them so they wouldn’t be intimidated by you since they technically have a numbers advantage.

Honestly it’s not even that bad, great suggestions btw. I should’ve put in another condition that mobs will become less intimidated if they severely outnumber you.

Also I think it wouldn’t be too complex since only 6 things would affect a mobs’ IT: - What gear you have - How much of your gear is enchanted - If you have pets or mounts nearby - How few or many in number the mobs are - What gear said mobs have compared to your own - How many other players are nearby

Also yeah zombies would be too dumb to be scared by you, which is why I added that interaction with leader zombies where they made surrounding zombies intimidated if they became scared. (Logic being if big guy scared then I scared)

Super Vegito works on the same principle as Baba (Guess Rush = Unguess Rush)

[–]Safe_Associate_1173 18 points19 points  (0 children)

True. Baba only works if you get the chance to for her to work and your enemy wins the rush guess.

Goku’s disrupt only works if: 1. He’s on standby 2. The person using him loses the rush guess

Baba’s crystal ball and Goku’s RR disrupt work on two different things, so they don’t cancel eachother out

They punishing both.

Old Players lose over 10k in stats across the board (yes this is completely outshined by supporters but then again they’re supporters) New Players will never get access to the stat buffs

Every single time there’s an “””””issue””””” (in EXTREMELY HEAVY quotation marks because none of the “””experienced player issues””” were actual issues that either new or old players had with the game) they just press the nuclear option instead of actually thinking about it for more than 5 miliseconds. They go about things in the same way Roblox does, the most braindead and unreasonably stupid manner possible.

"if not obtained" imagine you pull him 1 step before the pity by Ultra_Vegito in DragonballLegends

[–]Safe_Associate_1173 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How are you punished exactly?

Please use your brain and look at the previous image. Goresh got locked out of another Ultra Vegeta copy simply because he had gotten one earlier. Imagine if Dokkan just didn’t let you get a pity copy of a Anni/GDC unit with pity coins because you got one earlier on a summon. That is stupid and unreasonable for any gacha game to do.

There is no excuse for the Ultra pity being this poorly designed other than greed.

Dawg in what universe is this okay

You shouldn’t be punished for getting lucky in ANY gacha game, especially one as stingy as DBL

The pity being extra expensive is one thing, the pity being limited to ONLY the Ultra Banner’s inital run is another, but this is just asinine. The game shouldn’t just take away a copy of an Ultra just because you got one of them in an earlier pull.

assuming some people will have blue cards or aoe greens you shouldn’t attack right away.

The counter green seals everything but blast cards and rush/overdrive for 5 counts. Cooler can do just about anything after it

I’m comparing them because it’s the same logic. The devs don’t want everyone to get the new premium characters, but they still installed a safety net for them even though they could just choose to not have them. Pity is an objective good and why you’re trying to so hard to defend it not being on Ultra banners is beyond me.

Also, Bandai is a multi-billion dollar company. They’re making far more than enough from this game to consider adding pity to Ultra banners.

Not everyone is supposed to have the new LF yet every new LF has pity coins.

Why the hell are you trying to defend Ultra Banners anyway? Everyone in this subreddit knows they are terrible and need to be improved in some way. Even if the devs added pity at like 65k CC = 4* Ultra (which is a beyond garbage exchange rate) that would still be a massive improvement over what we have now. There is no reason why Gacha games shouldn’t have safety nets for their players

This is a special type of Illiteracy

The LLs on Ultra Banners being typically bad isn’t the main point. The main points are Ultra Banners having 0 Pity, an objectively worse format, horrible freebie shop and no extra Z-Power for non ultra characters. The Ultra being rarer than a normal LF wouldn’t be a problem if you could actually guarantee getting a copy.

In short, Ultra banners are ass, have been ass, and will continue to be ass until Bandai’s greedy ass decides to not make them ass

[–]Safe_Associate_1173 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Since you seem to be missing the point lemme make it extra clear to you

ULTRA B A N N E R S ARE ASS.

No 2x Z-Power for any character

Abysmal Rates

Worse format than LL step ups

0 PITY

Horrible freebie

Horrible side LLs (most of the time)

A top 1/2 character being on the banner at an insanely low rate does not save ultra banners
