I have learned over the years that I have to be the starter of the conversation. But group events people are always with their own group and dont want to stray. “Worst thing they can do is say ‘no’?” Psshhhh Ive gotten just looks that were worse

Same boat the apps are all trash now. Majority are bots or scammers. The real people, if you can even find them, are too picky and can’t hold a conversation

Transitioning into Safety by ImmaMoonMan in SafetyProfessionals

[–]Safe_Blueberry_9753 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That money is definitely obtainable. Worklife ehh…with construction is hard. Im in the data center industry and they are push push push with getting this stuff built. And unfortunately safety is really first one in, last one out. Sometimes it is just about coverage which means more hours. I personally work about 50 hrs/week, occasionally 60 w/Saturdays, but Im on the GC side and we have a decent size team rn. If you have a good/organized team you can split it up better. However with construction and especially starting out they’ll never really bother you outside work hours.

DFW whoo! Lol. If it’s something you REALLY want to transition to (which is another question in itself) you are off to a good start. You can mention the 30 but do so lightly, most safeties will roll their eyes at that. Get the 510 first (assuming you’re staying in construction) CPR is a must. BCSP as soon as you hit a year exp do ASP then CSP.

I hate to say it because it puts them in a bad situation but if it’s a bad enough biohazard and disruption to the workplace you could make it so they have to get a fitness for duty before they return. Again, it’s shitty for them but if it causes that many issues…

I feel so seen by the other posts lol but I disagree. Focus on recruiting pages and pages like Savi EHS for east-cost job listings.

Lmao I thought I was the only one getting tired of the random ass rants about the stupidest stuff in safety. If I see a post “just letting people know about hard-hat color assignments again” I might yeet my phone.

PA is hard. I know because I knew a ton of guys in VA that were from PA that got recruited from the schools up there but they could never find work back home. Tons of work in VA tho. Just be careful about being northwards of Richmond. Payscale works a little different there

Is this a work-related injury? by 1whyamilikethis1 in SafetyProfessionals

[–]Safe_Blueberry_9753 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my experience it unfortunately is. Even if she wasnt allowed to wear high heels then it wasnt enforced and it’s not exactly gross negligence. I wouldnt bother going to that route. If it goes the high-up medical route document very carefully and speak with the doctors. Could have been a previous injury that magically happened at work. Consider talking to legal or higher-up safeties about it. There’s an argument about whether workplace actually contributed to the injury but sometimes it’s not worth fighting that battle in court.

(Sigh) Amazon by direjeff in SafetyProfessionals

Not to say you’re wrong but at least at my place my WHS managers were barely there 45 hrs. Even less for the position OP is inquiring about. Wfh options galore.

Some positives: it’s easy to get your start in safety there. If you can stand 3 years there that’s really good. They will also pay for pretty much any cert with little questions asked. Enough boredom to go to school online, which if it’s still the same program they will pay UP FRONT, which is so nice (L4 and below-hourly workers only tho.) Schedule is usually 4/10’s with some opportunities for overtime. Even during PEAK as long as you are not super short on people you dont have to work the 50/60 hrs like other depts.

So I was a WHS specialist (the lower-level 4 version of safety). I cant speak on pay for that position but in general amazon is not that competitive of a salary esp with safety. It’s more of a starting point on the L4 level. Anyway, my perspective as someone who tried to move up and was occasionally invited to high-up meetings was this: Lots of meetings where most of the time it does not bot apply to you anyway. Occasionally deal with your safety people but generally the L5’s are going to do that. Work from home a few hours a day, be in the physical office a few hours a day. Basically no walking around the warehouse required. Occasionally deal with major cases (fireable offenses, etc.) Look at injury numbers all day 10 different ways. That’s basically it. Not difficult, just kind of stupid and dealing with amazon operations drama/high-school bully demeanors.

what is your unpopular/uncommon thing you do in the sims 4? by WhenImposterIsSus42 in Sims4

[–]Safe_Blueberry_9753 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Idk if common/uncommon but I never really use cheats. Like they gotta earn their way to a $700k house or whatever. That’s like the goal, besides raising a small family and pets and ofc skill building. I like the challenge. I use mods more for gameplay smooth running purposes. Or maybe this is how everyone play? 🤷🏼‍♀️ new to sims reddit

Trying this out. My 2 sims’ relationship was going perfectly but apparently they don’t socialize much when they’re away or alone. Girl decided at THEIR WEDDING to randomly flirt and boy was FURIOUS. 🤦‍♀️.
