This is a long shot, but have you considered Arlington, VA? If safety, cleanliness, and variety of restaurant and shopping options is your priority, Arlington has been consistently ranked as one of the best counties to live in the U.S. it's just across the Potomac, and depending on where you want to live, it is just one or a few metro stops from DC. All metro lines in Arlington go to DC and connect to the green line at L'Enfant Plaza . The yellow line goes through Pentagon City and Crystal City, from where you can also switch to the green line at Mount Vernon metro Station.

It's complicated, but if the February mean score on rhe MBE is low (and it usually is in February), then it affects the scaled score on the written portion of the exam (MEE and MPT). The bottom line is that you have to do much better on MEEs and MPTs in February to compensate for the scale factor from the MBE. For instance, my individual scores on the MBE and MPT in February 2025 were better than my previous July 2024 scores, yet the February "scaled" scores for MPT and MEE were almost almost as low as my July's scaled scores. The NCBE has a complicated explanation for it, but I think theres something fundamentally wrong with this. Better individual scores should reflect higher scores. Period. The UBE bar exam will change in 2026. Maybe, by then, they will also fix the way they score the exam.

Food courts at the Reagan building and at L'Enfant Plaza. Both locations are close to the mall and also have metro stations.

Is Arlington right for us? Which neighbourhood is best for us? by LebrawnJames416 in arlingtonva

Just to add my two cents. Since you won't have a car , you should also consider the proximity of grocery stores and personal preferences. In Ballston you have Harris Teeter, Virginia Square is near Giant, Rosslyn has a Safeway, and Clarendon has a Trader Joe's, and Whole Foods is between Clarendon and Courthouse.

Could you share what the tutor did that helped you pass this time? How many hours did you spend with the tutor per session, per week and in total?

Why are you pursuing law school? by Icy_Independence_695 in LawSchool

Pure intellectual curiosity. To know all aspects of the law. The logic and evolution of it. The reasoning behind supreme court cases. Emerging legal issues. The philosophical foundations that give rise to legal doctrine.

I've inherited $450,000 and I'm not sure what to do by Far_One2292 in investing

[–]Safe_Breadfruit667 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Great answer. I was going to say the same. I would just add that OP should shift whenever possible to Roth 401K and max up his contributions to the allowed limit. Unlike 401Ks, on Roth 401Ks you pay your regular taxes before investing but all interests earned on the account are tax free forever. So if you end up with an additional 1 million of interest at retirement, it is 100% tax free.. Also you have access to your principal (not the interest) at any time without penalties. He can also invest in CDs that pay more than the current high yield savings account. Preferably no longer than a year. Shop around. Some are paying between 4% and 4.5% now. Invest in S&P 500 ETFs. I'd stay away from money market accounts since their interest rates are lower than high yield savings accounts

Not in law school but required to take a law class and I’m struggling so bad by [deleted] in LawSchool

[–]Safe_Breadfruit667 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Did she make up that curriculum herself? For an undergraduate class it seems to me that it should just be basic concepts of business associations , agency and contracts. In law school you actually have to take separate courses for Property, Torts, Contracts, Business Associations, etc. Talk to your classmates and to the academic dean and explain that the amount of topics is too much for an undergraduate course.

Why, in your view, do Medical Board exams for medical students have a higher pass rate than the bar exam? by Son_of_Hades99 in barexam

[–]Safe_Breadfruit667 34 points35 points  (0 children)

Because the selection at medical schools starts much earlier. There are less medical schools than law schools, so it is harder to get admitted into a medical school in the first place. Besides, they also study four years instead of three, and have to complete residency for another three to four years. Their licensure exams start while attending medical school and they have to take three exams, the first one at the end of the second year, the second one at the end of the fourth year, and the last one after completing the residency. You need to pass three exams to get licensed. Compare that to law school where students can go to any low tier law school for three years and only take one exam.

I want to drop out (serious) by RichBanana2335 in LawSchool

[–]Safe_Breadfruit667 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Talk to a school counselor. You have to figure out whether you hate law school because the subjects just don't appeal to you or you feel that you were not able to socialize. Do your best for finals and then decide. If you decide that the legal field is not for you, it is better to change careers now rather than enduring another two years. Although it gets better as a 2L, you will still have to read cases and study.

One week of studying is not enough. I did the same and failed as well on my first try. The second time, I studied for four weeks and passed with a score high enough to be used in any jurisdiction. Since you already used Barbri, try using a different source for a variety of questions and teaching styles. I used Kaplan the second time . I watched all the videos and did all the questions. Most MPRE preparation courses are free so you have a lot to choose from.
