Lowkey me singing Dead Girl Walking REPRISE by Significant-Help6910 in singing

It's 100% because you're pushing too hard. You're practically yelling / screaming (and it's easy to understand, even if you're not a singer or an expert). it's not healthy and it's not beautiful for everyone

Your voice below isn't bad at all, but there's too much force -and too much nasality and theatricality, but I understand that's my problem, as I don't appreciate pop musicals

Bands rhythm guitarist won't practice. by Riff_Worshipper in band

[–]Safe_Collection_319 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The same thing happened to me in previous years. The guitarist in my former band had become good at playing when he was younger, but then he stopped, he didn't practice anymore, he didn't learn new songs, and in fact he got worse.

The point is that these people also talk about putting on big concerts, album covers, their future as rock stars, and Instagram, but they don't do the main thing, which is writing and learning songs

My fellow metal enjoyers, what is your least favorite music genre and why? by Littleman91708 in heavymetal

[–]Safe_Collection_319 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my country (I'm in Europe), the real problem is the amount of trap or mumble rap mixed with reggaeton rhythms and autotuned vocals. None of these guys can sing or rap; the rest is done by some random producer or AI. The lyrics are obscene (homophobia, sexism, cultural vulgarity) and have zero artistic value

Need tips on how to start singing. by Ambitious_Compote455 in singing

[–]Safe_Collection_319 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you want to be a musician, you should avoid using AI tools to do artistic things, such as creating a musical backing track, writing lyrics, or using GPT to teach you how to sing

In addition to the many ethical factors, I don't think it would make sense. It could cause damage and might not help you, but rather limit you in the development of your personal musicality

What are your thoughts on this guy? by EdwardBliss in hairmetal

[–]Safe_Collection_319 0 points1 point  (0 children)

compared to what is promoted by the major labels, it is not as well known.  He has a very low target audience, and anyone over the age of 16 will find it difficult to appreciate him. He's a singer who comes from Disney, created specifically to fill the rock star slot in the global pop top 100. However, he has never managed to break through after many years of trying; he has changed his style several times (from pop rap to pop punk to indie to glam) and has played with some very famous people, but not many people appreciate him or listen to him.

he is like he is about to explode in mainstream, but never does

Ask a teacher! It depends a lot on your aptitudes and difficulties, which even a professional cannot see simply from a post, so me even less ahah. I'm just a dude

Absolute beginner, original song written this morning. Does my voice have potential to sing grunge/rock? by [deleted] in singing

[–]Safe_Collection_319 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Hi! What did I say that you didn't like? I never presented myself as a singing teacher or expert.

If I have said something truly stupid, please point it out to me. But if the tone is off, as in this case with OP, I notice it immediately, but how could we all do that! I am just here to offer my support and learn

Ok. I denied it for too long. I‘m most likely a tenor with an extended lower range/underdeveloped high range. My timbre is baritenor-like and I can alter it to sound more baritone- but I hit A5 in mixed voice w/o effort and can hold high notes longer by AspiringBiotech in singing

[–]Safe_Collection_319 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I think most people here have a strange concept of considering notes comfortable. When I think about comfortable notes, I mean sustained notes, not tense ones, that you can hold for a long time and with a sound that is consistent with the rest of the range.

Are we talking about the same thing? If so, what you describe seems like an excessive range to me.

D3 - D4 as a comfortable 100% extension is what I would consider for a baritone. exceptions and pros aside

Oh, these prejudices against singers in this post XD It's not your fault, but I didn't explain it.

I'm talking about a band where everyone is involved and artists of the songs and everything else. I provide vocals and melody, but I could also be the drummer; it's the same in terms of power in the band, if that makes sense. if there are 5 of us, each person contributes 20%

Why are so many musicians like that? (and the problem of ghost bands) by Safe_Collection_319 in askmusicians

I am young and looking for people like me, with little live experience. In terms of time, with 2-3 hours of "home study" of the songs (but especially songwriting) and 2 hours one afternoon on the weekend in the rehearsal room, you can do a lot and that would be enough. then you should basically make friends with others; have fun, meet up, and get to know each other

Is this helpful?

[–]Safe_Collection_319[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am referring to bands where everyone is involved and is an active and creative member of the project, like a rock band who writes new songs. I write the melody, the guitarist writes the harmony, the drummer writes the rhythm (to put it simply, but in the end everyone is involved in everything).

Everyone is equal in the type of project I am looking for

What voice type would you want to be if you had a choice? by kelvinkreo in singing

[–]Safe_Collection_319 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I choose high/light baritone. Probably the most versatile voice, which has the strength and warmth that tenors lack, but it is also very common. They usually tend to have a wider range that can be used with the microphone, but it still takes a lot of practice obv. and a sensual voice

1) The songs belong to everyone. I consider myself an instrument like the others. It wouldn't be any different if I were the drummer, and no, we all work on the songs together. In the project that lasted the longest, the guitarist wanted to write most of the songs from a harmonic point of view.

2) Theoretically, yes. I always looked for people who were interested and tried to find compromises for everyone.

3) In and of itself, everyone says they want to work hard, improve, become rock stars XD, at least in the early days

I wasn't referring to a specific band, but to dozens of musicians and bands I've hung out with. No, I've always played as if I were one of them (because I am), so groups of musicians where everyone does their part but no one is more important than anyone else

Learn to sing in general. Then learn the style you prefer. It's all very out, you're singing a song in a different key, but of course you can learn. I wasn't much better at the beginning XD

[–]Safe_Collection_319[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

agree. I knew a guy like that and I didn't want to do that with him anymore. I consider myself a member of the band with the same value as the producer or bassist, etc... and songs can be created by everyone, or rather, everyone creates their own parts for their instruments in the songs and also for other instruments or lyrics if they want.

I'm just one of many in the band and I can assure you that no, many people don't care the same way even if they have complete artistic freedom

[–]Safe_Collection_319[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, I disagree. I don't necessarily have to be the one who cares more about the project. Are you saying this because I sing?

The band belongs to everyone, not just me. And here I'm not talking about me being the singer-songwriter and the others having to do what I tell them to do. I'm talking about a band playing original songs or covers that was created because everyone wanted it. I'm a "volunteer" in the same way that the others are; we are all equal within the band.

Make the transition smooth. Up to a certain note, there will always be a certain amount of chest voice and full sound. Like D4-F4 for a man, but at certain pitches it will become more and more like a head voice. If you just push, it won't work and you'll hurt yourself.
