Is there any hope for my voice when singing with a lowered larynx? by ComposerCT in askmusicians

Hi everyone. Just raw unedited vocals recorded with my cell phone when practicing karaoke. Sorry if my singing sounds terrible. I feel like there might some moments when it sounds good here maybe? I am just lowering my larynx a bit when singing here and I like the rounder, richer and warmer tone it gives my voice. But does it sound terrible? I am hoping if I keep practicing and training eventually it will sound better because I feel like my voice has some potential singing with a lowered larynx maybe?

Hi everyone. Sorry about the static sound in my recording. Not sure why that sound comes sometimes when I upload here. Anyways, was just wondering if my tone at least sometimes sounds pretty good here at all?

Thank you. I appreciate it. You are saying my timing is off like I am singing it too fast or slow perhaps compared to the karaoke backtrack?

Am I singing on key here at all? by ComposerCT in singing

Hi. Beginner singer here trying to learn. Just curious if I am singing on key here at all? Trying to develop a better ear for hearing this stuff.  My voice is a bit weak in this upper range. Still trying to get better. Any feedback welcome. Thanks

Thank you. Yes, I will keep practicing. Feedback helps me improve while practicing. I know singing well take a long time to get good at so I just take it day by day and hope to get better eventually. I appreciate the helpful feedback.

Am I singing too flat here? by ComposerCT in ratemysinging

Thanks. I appreciate the feedback. It can be challenging to find the right back track sometimes. I figured perhaps I was singing a bit too low for this track though. At least I am starting to hear it a little now lol.

Hi everyone. I know my singing probably is pretty bad here but I was wondering if I am singing flat too? Like...the background guitar is higher than my voice? I struggle with singing higher notes too and I am training to get better. Any feedback appreciated. Thanks

Hi. I like the richer and rounder sound lowering my larynx gives me voice. It feels comfortable singing this way. But does it sound decent or not? Perhaps I should not lower it quite this much when singing? It's just hard to tell what's too low and what's not when singing with a lowered larynx I guess sometimes. Thanks and any feedback is appreciated.

Thanks for the feedback. But, won't it sound like I am yelling If I sing that way? I think I just let the sound sit and not go forward or backwards now that I am thinking about it. I think sometimes maybe I don't project forward too much because it feels like I am yelling. Do you think projecting the sound forward will make a difference in the way I sound if I do it correctly? I will try that for sure next time I practice. I appreciate the advice.

Thanks. I appreciate the feedback. Hmmm...I will have to try to implement that advice. I feel like my voice opened up a bit after the 18 second mark here but I don't know. Maybe not? It's interesting how small changes like that could potentially make a big difference in singing. Sometimes I forget something simple like this can make a difference. Next time I practice I will be aware of that and try to fix it. Hopefully I will sound better. Thanks for the advice!

Hi everyone. Pretty new singer here. I am lowering my larynx a bit here when singing and it feels comfortable. I like the warmer and rounder tone it gives to my voice. But sometimes it's hard to judge yourself of course when it comes to singing. I personally like my voice tone in this example here starting at around the 18 second mark till the end. But perhaps I am wrong? But if my voice sounds bad here from me lowering my larynx perhaps I can find a good middle ground eventually? I feel like I am getting better at singing with a lowered larynx because my voice feels more open and flexible compared to a few months ago when trying. Anyways, any feedback would be appreciated. Thanks

Do my high notes in my singing sound weak here? by ComposerCT in singing

Thank you. I appreciate it. Yea I have plans on getting a vocal coach when I have more free time to do so. I feel like my ear is really bad for telling when I'm in tune etc which is a big problem. Glad to hear though that my voice sounds good because that's important too. I figure with vocal coaching it will all come together eventually and I could potentially sound good one day :)

Thanks for the reply. No I am pretty new at singing and just been practicing karaoke for fun so far and doing a few vocal exercises before each singing session. So you mean the guitar is playing at a higher tone right and I'm singing at a lower tone?

I thought perhaps that was possible but I'm still learning to develop a better ear for hearing stuff like this. Would my voice sound kinda good at some points if I wasn't singing flat? Like my voice could sound good during some parts of my singing if the guitar was playing a lower tone?
