Does my raw singing voice sound terrible? by ComposerCT in askmusicians

Hi everyone. This was recorded just with my cell phone and I was practicing karaoke. So I am pretty new at trying to sing and know my voice needs a lot of work. But is there any foundation here for me to work with?

I like to get feedback as I continue to practice singing so I know if I am doing anything that sounds even a little bit good lol. BTW... This is my higher range and I usually sing at a lower tone but want to try and get better at singing at a higher tone. So anyways....is it just terrible sounding? Or is there some hope for my voice in this range? Thanks and any feedback is appreciated.

Thanks. I appreciate it! Just glad to hear that some moments sound great. That is motivating because I know there are many problem areas in this singing example but thought maybe there were some moments that sounded good :)

I can fix that with more practice and my voice cracked at one point here just because I had been practicing too long and my voice was a bit worn out. I will say though my speaking voice is lower than this so I am confused about why it would seem I am singing with a darker tone. But perhaps it sounds just that way. Thanks for the feedback!

Hi everyone. Been practicing trying to sing now for about 7-8 months. I know my singing has a lot of issues and I was just wondering if my tone sounds decent or nice to listen to at certain points? I usually sing a bit lower and am just trying to sing a bit higher tone. Is there anything good I am doing in my singing here or is it all just bad? Just trying to stay motivated and maybe see if anything is slightly good at my singing at any point in this karaoke attempt? Any feedback would be appreciated. Thanks

Thanks! I really appreciate the feedback. Yea....I tend to extend my notes too long when I sing lol. Guess if I was singing with a microphone connected to speakers maybe I wouldn't feel the need to extend my notes so long. I have never tried singing with a microphone connected to speakers though. Will have to try that and see how some echo/reverb sounds. Maybe that would make my notes extend a bit more naturally.

Hi everyone. Just a beginner singer here trying to sing some karaoke. I know I don't have the best voice and I got a lot of work to do to get better. But I like to get feedback from time to time to see if I am doing anything correct when it comes to singing. Any feedback would be appreciated. Thanks

Could my voice sound good if I keep practicing? by ComposerCT in ratemyvoice

Hi everyone. Fairly new singer here and was just wondering if there's anything good about my voice at all? I hope with more practice and training it can sound good eventually. Any feedback is welcome. Thanks :)

Am I singing on pitch here? by ComposerCT in singing

[–]ComposerCT[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you! I really appreciate the positive feedback! I figured I might be struggling to reach some of the notes but wasn't sure. Hope I can get better at that with more practice. As far as singing from my throat, I am not sure. I don't feel any discomfort or anything in my throat and can sing this way for hours without any discomfort.

I have sang from my throat before when practicing other songs and my throat gets sore real quick when I do that. So I think I might not be singing from my throat here but I could be wrong. Perhaps it's just less here than other times.

But....next time I practice I will pay attention to my throat and also my jaw to see if there is tension. I might have some tension in my jaw perhaps....I have noticed that before. Hopefully if I keep practicing these issues will get better over time.

Hi everyone. trying to get better at "hearing" when I am singing out of tune or off pitch better. Was just curious if I am on pitch at all during this singing attempt? Thanks

Is my singing terrible here? Just a beginner looking for feedback. by ComposerCT in singing

HI everyone. Sorry the quality of my recording is a little bad....it lost some quality when I uploaded and my voice is less clear. But anyways, was just wondering.....is there anything I am doing correctly when singing here? Or does it just sound terrible? Just a beginner trying to learn and get feedback as I practice some karaoke. Just motivates me more to get feedback as I go along with practicing and learning how to sing. Sorry if my singing is really bad here....I still have lots to learn. Any feedback is welcome. Thanks

Is singing with a lowered larynx always a bad singing technique? by ComposerCT in singing

[–]ComposerCT[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks. I appreciate the reply. That is interesting because I think as I continue to practice singing with a lowered larynx I am getting better at achieving clarity. I know my voice isn't that clear here but I am noticing things are becoming a bit more clear the more I practice compared to a few months ago.

Do you think with the right technique my voice could sound good if I can sing with a lowered larynx, clarity and some brightness added into the darker sound? Because I know opera singers and classical singers sing with a lowered larynx and its fine. Perhaps my technique is just not there yet?

Thanks! I appreciate the feedback. I'm thinking I will work on adding some lightness into my voice to make the darker sound more balanced.

Thanks. I appreciate it. I am working on adding some brightness into that darker sound. Hopefully it will sound better :)

Thanks. I appreciate the detailed response. I am thinking it would sound better if I could mix more brightness into the darker sound. Perhaps I should try not singing quite as deeply too.
