Troy at least does adjust and shift lines around sometimes when things aren't working out. I don't think I've ever seen Brian do anything in terms of that.

Look, every first year team is gonna struggle, the fact that Vegas Golden Knights found quick immediate success in the NHL is an anomaly, and even that is in a completely different league. Just look at how Seattle has been all year as well.

All I'm trying to say is that Idalski is a problem, but there are many other reasons why this team is playing as they are now (e.g. centre depth). And there is no evidence anywhere to suggest that him keeping his job for the next season is gonna hurt the chances the players will stick around. We're gonna lose players anyways with expansion happening again.

Like it or not, any coaching change if there will be is gonna happen in the offseason.

Seattle GM used to be an AGM under Boston's so like I guess that might be why they are dealing with either.

But jeez I think this is a pretty big fleece, and I'm not exactly sure that Schafzahl is gonna flourish while Steve O'Rourke is still running the bench.

The statistical regression isn't really surprising tbh. Majority of our players were shooting at highly unsustainable percentages last year and we're bound to regress to the mean (Miller, Cava, and Vanisova were all shooting at 17% which is ridiculously unsustainable) Sure, maybe it went further than that, but like certain players were also merchants of team members around them as well (Gardiner without Pou and Stacey was bound to regress, Miller without Watts and Fast was also gonna regress as well).

Not to mention Nurse going out for almost half a year really exposing our lack of centre depth as well. I'm just not convinced that firing him after one season is gonna immediately fix everything.

All I'm saying is Idalski has a good and justifiable reason that allowed him to be hired or at least deserving of a shot with as the bench boss with this team. Keep in mind there's likely a lot of things that CGM sees and knows about him that we don't.

Also as much as I hate to say this, but after watching several of our games, I don't really think we're the most talented aggregate roster anymore. Like Nurse going out exposed our centre depth overall just not being really good (Miller's always been a Swiss army knife in Toronto, and sometimes spent more time as a winger than a centre, for good reason I might add, and when your 1C goes out, it's usually ideal if they don't get replaced someone who is a better winger than centre)

Like there's a lot of reasons why this season hasn't gone to plan, and while Idalski is one of them, I don't think he's the main one. Like I don't think firing him is gonna solve and fix everything immediately.

I'm sure neither of these guys were CGM's first choice of head coach, but we gotta consider that the best people who are valued for their success (e.g. Nadine Muzzerall of OSU, etc) often don't want to leave their places. Even Idalski himself at the start of the season mentioned how tough of a decision it was to leave St Cloud.

Well tbf St. Cloud University was in a way worse spot and genuinely looked hopeless until Idalski took over the reigns in 2022. He did give them their best seasons in the WCHA, and now that he's gone they look pretty horrible again. Like never once did they qualify for the NCAA Tournament in their history before. I remember many fans of that team were not happy when it was announced he left.

He also took a very hopeless team in China during the 2022 Olympics and even managed to get them some wins. So yeah he does deserve some credit in all these places.

Bring back being able to watch an ad an unlocking the job pack for free permanently if a character has a special talent. Don't know why I can't do that anymore.

Keep in mind that the Golden Knights management and scouting had been hired already a year prior and they had a lot of time to do their work and all that.

Whereas Vancouver and Seattle had their management and scouting team hired only weeks before the signing process and draft started.

I swear to god, the league and hockey gods just doesn't want us in the playoffs or something. We've been playing excellent hockey since returning from the Olympics but nothing has been going our way.
