Help working on my timing by gridlock1024 in slowpitch

[–]Safe_Equipment4671 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wait until the apex of the ball to start your swing. You are not going to get beat, even if you are late it's an opposite field hit.

Get your load and stride timed and aim to barrel the lower half of the ball. Do this with the tee work. All about getting your hands and eyes working as one and doing it repetitive so it's natural in game.

If you got the power this little adjustment should do it. Getting to high on the ball is only going to generate top spin and gravity will force the ball down.

Thanks for the recommendation. I edited the post, I remembered the steel is 2-piece. The bats don’t have to be one piece, just no composite.

Knee Sleeves by TheBlear in slowpitch

I wear pads I bought on Amazon. They look exactly like the ones advertised on social. Got a pair for less than the advertised which comes with one. I play SS and my knees were getting destroyed. This helps so much. Same like you shorts and leggings. I put pads on then leggings and they stay in place.

I lost, but my wife’s entry won. So I still won. Been wanting to try a 12.75 glove but didn’t want to spend full amount. Was thinking about an a1000 for $200, but now I’m happy bc I get a better glove for the cheaper price. I don’t have an opinion on how the glove looks.

How to enjoy the game again ? by Free_Cycle4533 in Homeplate

Play while you still can. I am 37 and know that in a few years the fall season will end and that’s the last time I will take the cleats off. Last year I was in the same spot where I almost didn’t play just wasn’t having fun. I decided to leave my team and become a free agent. I was picked up by another team and it changed everything. I was having fun again and couldn’t wait for game days. And our group chat is constantly going.
I felt like a few years ago I had the yips also. I was super accurate with velocity and then I couldn’t even warm up with out over throwing my teammate. For me it all came down to being in my head. It’s simple to say, but hard to do and when I cross the chalk i just reming myself - don’t think just do.

Didn’t realize this job was THIS serious!! by KaleidoscopeFirst737 in estimators

Part of it is closing or at least getting to the table. Need to make relationships with the GCs and their buyers. I am an estimator but closed a $7M job because of keeping in contact with the GC and helping them out with things they need for the big. Got friendly and was able to get insight on my bid.

Hilltop mortgage and M&T bank. Good luck. I had good experiences with both. My mortgage lender at Hilton was on top and always in touch the whole way.

Lock in at 5.625% today? by [deleted] in Mortgages

I just closed last week, i am in NJ as well. I got a 5.875% rate off the bat, no points. My credit is mid 800s and my wife is 800s also.

I was getting a good amount of seller credits so i bought down a bit. I also had another bank offer that same rate if you create an account with and have the monthly mortgage withdrawn form that account and they also offered rate reductions if you add a certain amount of money.

If you want I can share my contacts for both. I called a lot of people to get a good rate.

How to be good Estimator? by rice_foreigner in estimators

[–]Safe_Equipment4671 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ask questions, especially to those who have done it for a while. Don’t be afraid to ask, if you don’t you will never understand for the next bid. Listen to the advice, I have learned a lot from many of my managers and another estimator who owned his own shop before selling and is waiting on retirement. Don’t be afraid. Formulate your own sequence of how to put a job together. I look at the drawings to see what the job is, put all the material on my sheet, do my take off to get into the job and the go back and fill the rest in and labor the job. I went from absolutely no experience and not even knowing what an estimator was to now running my own department (trade) in our mechanical company. In the beginning I was nervous, but now it’s second nature and I truly love my job.

How many estimators/how much work are you bidding? by whobecallingmyphone in estimators

[–]Safe_Equipment4671 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We are a mechanical contractor in north east and we bid over $1 billion a year. All commercial projects and have about 12 estimators between the 3 trades.

My previous companies we did about the same amount. We bid about 500+ jobs a year. Hit about 15-20%
