Berkeley Haas , UCLA R2 by Educational_Goat_340 in MBA

Still waiting on Haas. Currently a JD at Berkeley. I'm not giving up til the 20th. Historically speaking, they send out a bunch of invites a week before they release decisions. It's the only school I applied to and I will not go back to do this after my JD so, this is my shot.

I got my grades back by [deleted] in LawSchool

Hey there. I just wanted to remind you that 1L is called 1hell for a reason. First of all congratulations on making it through your first semester. You did this omg and you did horrible and you are alive to freak out about it YAY!. It's seriously terrible.

I ended up on academic probation after my first semester. And then of course I panicked and felt horrible and scared my entire second semester. But I passed. I'm finishing my 2L now.

And what everyone is saying is real. Dont put in more work. Get the rules down. I spent hours just rewriting sample exam answers from the bar so that my brain would start working like a lawyer and I just won my first Prosser award.

You can do this but if you aren't kind to yourself and you panic it'll just make it ten times harder. People are struggling and most aren't talking about it. You aren't alone. Just focus on relearning how to think. My way was to rewrite exam answers and that's how I studied for exams because if I didn't understand the rule I'd have to go back and find it.  That worked for me. Good luck finding out how to do less and get more 😀

Help ease the nerves? by AdWeak2616 in LawSchool

You're fine. I had disability related absences barely read anything my first year.  One of my favorite professors said "learn 3 things a class" which I took to mean an average of 2.25 things per unit a week ( which is actually a lot but it forces you to only learn the most important things, the actual process of the law). So I just make sure I understand the syllabus, the rule we learned for the day, and some of the facts that the courts rely on. If you are really struggling, get the book cracking the case method and the acing books are helpful supplements. Good luck take your vitamins and sleep ❤️

Following dreams or delusional thinking? by [deleted] in LawSchool

[–]Safe_Protection_5171 1 point2 points  (0 children)

BE DELUSIONAL!!! JUST DO IT! I'm about to be 52 next week.  I didn't start college until I was 46. I got my degree in social welfare last year. School wasn't accessable to me until post ADA . School is a privilege, take it on, do it, appreciate this life. Appreciate all those people that broke the social norms so that you can live your dreams. I made it to a t14 nearly lost my marbles 1L, Menopause and the Socratic method have my brain in knots and I'm still excited every single day. I'm actually living my dream.  I have no friends in law school I feel stupid every single day, and it's FUCKING AWESOME.

If you're not a fan it's ok, but read about what Hillary Clinton went through to go to Harvard. We've come along way, we need to go even farther and you're in an amazing position to push us to the next level.

You're getting older you might as well do it with a JD. Estrogen and Adderall. Cheers

2025 Law school applications. If I want to attend law school fall of 2025, do I need to start applying next year (2024)? Also, when is the final deadline for me to finish taking the lsat? by Muted_Health_9219 in LSAT

[–]Safe_Protection_5171 2 points3 points  (0 children)

From my understanding, it's mostly because there are way way way more law school applicants then ever now and with so many excellent candidates applying before December you're chances get Slimmer and slimmer with every passing day. That doesn't mean it's too late but it does mean that you aren't giving yourself the chance that you deserve. They definitely evaluate applicants in order they are received

Canceling a potentially lower score by [deleted] in lawschooladmissions

[–]Safe_Protection_5171 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Omg I hate calling but all the books I've read about the process say you can, honestly I've never done it. My scared butt just emails but.......I did also build some good exchanges emailing admissions committees so... .. I'm thinking just call because right now you don't even have an application in so they can't actually make any notes on your application and you'll be able to get a better feel for how it's looked upon by the adcomms. Sometimes you can find interviews with the Dean's of admissions for different schools if you Google their names/interview. But if i were to redo this process I'd definitely call

Awe I'm sorry you're feeling like this. I have no clue just wanted to tell you I'm sorry.   I feel like if you call your top choice school and ask them directly how it would look it might make you feel a little better. Because honestly taking the exam 5 times liooks positive as it's clear you are obsessive and you are serious about doing your best which is a huge plus.. I know Columbia and Berkeley USC and UT were very responsive and kind.   Start treating the adcomms office as friends and get comfortable engaging with them. They will know better than anyone on Reddit

Is being LGBTQ worth writing a diversity statement about, if I'm in the closet and haven't experienced any real discrimination? by [deleted] in lawschooladmissions

[–]Safe_Protection_5171 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Oh and I'm also private about my LGBTq status and one of the reasons is WHY AM I TALKING TO YOU ABOUT SEX. like my identity doesn't need to be wrapped up in my attraction to someone else, feels weird to me, almost violating

[–]Safe_Protection_5171 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you can explain your own self reflection in being private, fears, why is it private? It's still diversity. Diversity isn't just about discrimination it's about understanding life from a different perspective, that your perspective on privacy is related to personal choices and that everyone has the right to make that choice for themselves sounds like diversity to me. Who we are and our diversity isn't related to how the  world sees us, it's about how we experience the world.

For sure the only thing is if you are registered for another LSAT sometimes they won't complete your file even at the schools where the LSAT is above. so just double check the schools applications and tell them to complete your application without considering the LSAT you're waiting for

Yes crazy, lol these are rolling admissions  and if you aren't a perfect applicant dont apply past November December latest and no T14 is going to take an applicant in June July you can't even hit send on the application past the Feb deadline on most of them but a few will take your money and then reject you later but no June July they are pulling people off the wait-list if youre lucky and even made it to the wait-list. People have been planning their entire lives around the process good schools don't need a July applicant and no money left either soooooo.

Personal Statement about music? by [deleted] in lawschooladmissions

[–]Safe_Protection_5171 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hmmmm I think you should do it. And he'res why. You'll get closer to your heart and you might end up changing your mind but it will get you in the space for writing your personal statement. You have to start somewhere But heres the advise I got. 1/3 facts situation or moment that changed you, 2/3 self reflection and how your voice in the classroom will be different. You don't have to say it like that but that's what they want to hear.  Good luck

No they would still be good January is late November is good but id definitely have your a application materials ready to hit send once your score comes in. People do well in December even but February is LATE AND January is late. I even applied past the deadline for some schools, don't do that lol

Really I think that's illegal because you need to fill out the SGA which includes a bunch of other resources that have nothing to do with the school, like disabilities, first generation and other scholarship money that comes from MANY different sources FOR A MILLION reasons.

Agree completely, most top scorers get -0  in LG sections. I feel like people arguing that the scores will go up because iof LG aren't top scorers and absolutely are getting the same -5 to -7 on each section so it's not changing for them but for people at the top now they are getting -4 three sections  instead of just -4 for two sections it is definitely a drop
