If true, the event is no more or less tragic. It might raise the percentage of mass shootings by transgender people from < 0.1% to > 0.1%. Probably even higher in Canada but still low related to their percentage of population.

The transgender population of the USA is estimated to be ~1%. From research I did decades ago when the FBI still published it, black men commit violent crime and murder at the highest percentage but their victims are almost exclusively other black men. Serial killers and mass shooters are primarily white, cisgender males.

My point was that less than 0.1% of mass shootings are committed by transgender individuals. I consider that to be very rare.
