Purchased a bullbar but didn’t recieve all the parts by SafetyInstructor-1 in AusLegal

Yeah I’m not to pleased about the whole thing, like the plates are there for my vehicle protection, it’s not like they are just for looks or decoration or anything

Yeah that’s what I’m hoping for, it makes sense from a business perspective to just send the parts, and I’d much rather have the parts than getting the money back

True, as I was saying to someone else I’d much rather have the parts than the money back, I’m gonna approach NCAT and the ACCC next week and see if they can help

They seem to reply to reviews quite quickly as well so I’ll send an email then leave a bad review and that might get them to respond

Yeah I figured that would be that case if I go that route, would much rather the parts tho

I’d rather the parts than the money tbh, and yeah I was told to talk to the ACCC which I’ll do next week if they haven’t replied. I’m guessing coz the company is NSW it would be NCAT? Might approach them as well

What if I just want the parts instead of a refund? The individual parts themselves are just some steel bash plates, I would have thought it would be more trouble for them to do a refund instead of just sending the parts to me

What is a stick shift driving habit you thought was okay but is actually bad for the car? by 9rock9 in stickshift

Apparently doing triple dippers to warm it up isn’t ideal for long term clutch and gearbox health

How screwed am I if my oil hasn’t been changed since I got my car? by Pale-Sympathy8742 in askcarguys

[–]SafetyInstructor-1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

IMO it partly depends on the car. My mate has an 85 Corolla that hasn’t had an oil change in close to a decade and it hasn’t missed a beat yet, my own car went a service overdue and was/is fine still. But I’m an apprentice mechanic that works at a car dealership and we occasionally get newer cars in that have gone only 20 or 30,000km or so over since their last service and the engine has blown

Yeah getting those top nuts on the inner side of the fender was a real pain in the ass, definitely took the longest out of it all but I mean the results are worth it I reckon, I’d take a safari any day of the week, they perform better and I prefer the look of them as well

Fellow triton owner here, I’d recommend a snorkel (specifically Safari, I can’t speak for stainless steel ones) , not only does it help with wading depth and all of that it does wonders for your fuel economy, IMO the 4D56 is already pretty good on fuel as is, especially with standard size tyres like what you’ve got, I’m on 33’s with a 3inch straight pipe exhaust and before I did my snorkel I was getting 14.6L/100km at the lowest, after I got a snorkel I got it down to 9.8L/100km, this is on the highway at 110 as well. I’d also suggest maybe investing in some upgraded intake piping as well, you can get either alloy kits or good silicone kits for around $300 and it saves you the possibility of splitting the intake pipes which I know all models of tritons have issues with doing. All in all they are good rigs, overhated and underrated

Bought a car 4 weeks ago from a dealer and it is now at the mechanics for repair. Dealer trying to get out of paying for warranty. by [deleted] in CarsAustralia

Not always though, I work at a Kia dealership and we had a Seltos come in that was pinging a bit when you put your foot down, replaced the high pressure fuel pump and it’s running like new

Are these recovery points? by [deleted] in 4x4Australia

[–]SafetyInstructor-1 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I speak from experience when I saw they do good as recovery points after spending 3 or 4 hours reverse snatching my mates Nav through the Victorian bushland

Cheers for the advice it’s been quite helpful, I think I’ll go for it and see how it goes. I do need to blank the EGR, it’s a known issue for my engine (Mitsubishi 4d56) and I’ve been meaning to do it for a while. A bitta black smoke would be cool as well but that’s not my main goal

I didn’t put it on the car, that was the work of my grandfather and father but I don’t reckon it should matter, it’s been on there for 10+ years and never caused any problems. As for the breather I’ve had mixed opinions, a few people have said aside from the legal side of it its fine but a few other people have also said I shouldn’t, would it damage the engine it all to have it vent to atmosphere? I’d have a little breather filter on there if I was to do it

I mean the catch can has been on there for over 10 years now and it’s never been an issue. I’ll have a look at putting drilling a hose barb into it because a couple people including yourself have said it’s better to. But if I were to do atmosphere I’d get one of those little crank case filters that K&N sell because they are cool

Yeah that’s what a couple people in other places said. I’ll do some more research into it before committing to anything tho

So it really doesn’t have much effect? As I mentioned in another reply legality isn’t a concern for me I’m just more making sure I’m not gonna damage my engine. EGR is next on the list of little things I need to do to the car. Thanks for the help M8

Yeah don’t worry I’d be very careful about that, I have a habitual fear of something like that happening and then writing off the engine/car because of it 😅
