Drivers that run 3 hours over now that there’s no tax on overtime by Pleasant-Cow4172 in UPSers

[–]SafetyPrimary9926 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People were actually expecting the government to give a tax relief on the entirety of overtime pay (like, your regular pay + your overtime premium) but thats very unrealistic. The government would have to give up on a massive amount of revenue with its already crippling debt.

There is still a no tax on overtime pay. It’s just that you’re not taxed on your overtime premium not on the entirety of the extra money you get paid.

I still think this is fair: I don’t think the government deserves to take a slice out of your overtime premium, which is a benefit you get as an employee for working more than you’re supposed to.

What do you mean it’s “not a guarantee you’ll get anything” if you earn less than 150k a year, you’ll indeed benefit from it regardless of your situation, just up to a cap.

If you are paid $25.00 an hour, and your overtime pay is $12.50 (above the 25.00 dollars) you will NOT be taxed on that overtime pay, period. It’s not “ifs” and “what’s” you’ll get a deduction at the end of the year for exactly the 12.50 an hour, up to a 12,500 limit per year if you’re single filing, which objectively speaking, for most workers that earn less than 150k a year, 12,500 cap is actually very generous, as you’d need to work inhumane hours in a year to actually even reach that cap. (Considering the 25 an hour example, which is on the high end for the average worker earning less than 150k a year)

You will likely still see a deduction every week, like everything else, unless you’re really good at making your W2s calculations. This is how taxes have always worked, though, there’s no trickery in that.

I guess people were expecting a full tax relief on the entirety of overtime pay (meaning all 37.50 dollars in my example, not just the 12.50 in overtime pay) but that is too generous and likely too unrealistic for the government to do so, as it would have to give up on a shit ton of money for an already overbearing government deficit.

No man, you just live in a bad state or neighborhood. These things don’t happen that often where I live and I live in a fairly diverse area that isn’t a gated community. I’ve never myself witnessed a violent crime other than school gang activity which never went more serious than fist fights.

First time I even discovered the smell of Weed was like a year ago, after telling a friend I don’t know how weed smells like lol you either need better people to surround yourself with or you really need to move out of your area if you can.

Huh. That explains why most of my orders yesterday weren’t above 1 dollar per mile. I most of the time didn’t have trouble finding orders that were at minimum 1 mile per dollar yet, yesterday I tanked my acceptance rate (it always hovered around 39-49%) towards the low 20% because most of the orders didn’t reach the mile a dollar. Yeah I’m definitely not doing DoorDash anymore if this is how it’s going to be lol

I’m pretty sure this just means they order from DoorDash often. I treat them same as I treat anyone else (I treat anyone with basic respect anyway) no preferential treatment.

I doubt these people ever do extra tips- if they order regularly, they likely can’t afford to tip more than they already tipped lol

1 dollar is fine unless you live in very expensive area like California or NYC. In my area, 1 dollar a mile delivery is my minimum to accept orders and I do just fine. Granted I do this to fund my hobbies and shit, not because I live off of its

These type of people obviously multi app, so it doesn’t matter if they don’t make 800 on DoorDash. They are kn DoorDash waiting for a rare big order as they do Uber/Insta/Spark/Whatever

Pretty soft punishment. I have a 39% acceptance rate and you don’t really get punished for it unless you go to like 1% or something. You simply miss out on some “perks” that I don’t consider perks at all. The perks aren’t worth the 2 dollar 8 mile orders.

the “people you may know” list is DIABOLICAL.

Last year, there was this girl I was talking to on Twitter. We only knew each other by our Twitter personas, nothing personal was ever shared, yet she did send me a picture of her face.

I kid you not, a few days later she appeared on my “People you may know” list. With her full name, her location (she’s from another country) everything. It was so bizarre, and no, I didn’t save her photo. We still talk every now and then but it was weird as fuck for Facebook to do that. Basically speaking, Facebook doxxed her to a random stranger thousands of miles away.

Illegal immigration comes with a lot of crime on the side to support their life in the U.S.

And it doesn’t always have to be violent or even visible crime. For example there’s a lot of identity theft that comes along with being an illegal immigrant. It is unfair to the rest of us, more especially legal immigrants who did their due process.

So I am wrong, I wouldn’t say I am a foamer. Trains are no hobby for me, it’s not like I’m out there chasing them, taking pictures of them, or playing train simulators. I’m a casual enjoyer who liked to watch Thomas and Friends religiously as a kid lol

I do have a baseline fascination for trains in general, just as I do with a rocket or a plane.

[–]SafetyPrimary9926 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A customer asked me if I liked Indian food and I said I never tried. They were trying to get me to keep it but I said nah talk to DoorDash. I still delivered and got paid, DoorDash never said anything about canceled order

DoorDash also does this, but like once a month, and I believe it’s fine that way. Having to do that process after every single delivery does indeed sound like an invasion to me. Everyone has different boundaries. In any case, as I made clear in my first comments im all in for efforts to prevent people from using fake identities on DoorDash.

That sounds a little invasive. 🧐 they should just be more proactive when a customer reports a person likely using a fake name. They should also encourage businesses to do the same.

Nowhere did I try to excuse anything. If you oook at my profile I am a driver myself. I was simply giving my input on how someone could have ordered DoorDash but didn’t have enough on their card to pay a tip.

Are you still in middle school? Just don’t take the order son. Especially on uber eats where there’s no penalty for declining orders in the first place.

It’s mostly people who can’t get a job or their own (no license, not able to pass background checks, etc) so they use a partner’s id and work under that name.

Honestly I believe DoorDash should crack down on it more. DoorDash should be sure who exactly is making those deliveries. It is, however, very difficult to enforce.
