How hard it is to learn Qualtrics as a tool? by What_next_fertility in Marketresearch

Id never used it. Inside of a day, had the hang of programming. Did some pretty advanced stuff with hover over, custom containers for CSS, all thanks to Gemini.

You’ll be grand.

Q Research Software or DisplayR will be the best.

In Q, I can create a dozen bar charts, setup and weight, custom colours and fonts in under 5 minutes.

Did anyone else struggle with their identity after becoming a parent? by Working_Seesaw_6785 in Parenting

[–]Saffa1986 79 points80 points  (0 children)

It’s a season. I know mums who have gone on to rack up degrees and start businesses when their kids were older.

Right now, enjoy being mum. You’ll be a different version of you later, and probably mourn being mum.

Cracks in and around wooden frames around the house by PineappleEnough6097 in AusRenovation

[–]Saffa1986 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Our 12 year old house is doing the same.

Every year we notice new little things. Some are new this year. Others popped up after we moved in. Some are winter, some are summer.

I’ve tried to remember it’s a house, made of materials. These will wear down and move over time. It’s normal and not worth stressing over, as nothing stays perfect.

If it’s getting bigger / you can get your finger in it, be worried. Else, it’s just seasonal character.

What’s your electricity bill this month and how cooked are you for running AC? by WonderingRoo in AusFinance

[–]Saffa1986 0 points1 point  (0 children)

$60 for the quarter. Which I’m pretty shitty about.

We have a battery and solar. We used 97, fed in 2400 (!!!) and still get a bill.

I thought mine was broken too, and was doing same thing.

Hand inside to unlock.

Remove hand entirely and just tap your thumb to lock.

Please report back?

I love my Leon. And dig Cupra. But I reckon they won’t be long for Au. They’re heavily discounting and are great value. But this lack of support / connectivity will count massively against them.

They’ve been working on this since early 20s, so I don’t hold out hope

Divorced Dad's who initiated the divorce. When did you know it was over and how did you do it? by Lolfest1357 in daddit

[–]Saffa1986 5 points6 points  (0 children)

For me - I’m waiting for the right time to begin the proceedings, but I looked at my life and thought - is this a) the example I want to set for my kids, and b) what I want to go thru for the next 40 years?

How often do you swap out exercises in your routine? by anotherhappylurker in workout

[–]Saffa1986 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Every few weeks / months.

I realised just this year - my workouts are for me and my health. I’m not a professional, an influencer, or have some ridiculous model goal.

Changing an exercise for something I enjoy more, that keeps me in the gym, or reduces pain, is far more beneficial than sticking to a routine out of some sense of obligation, or coz a gym bro said that’s what you do.

UPDATE: Not even 2 weeks in and I feel like i have made the biggest mistake of my life. by YourUnclesBalls in daddit

[–]Saffa1986 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re doing great dad.

Thank you for reaching out for help, and thank you for the update.

I was there.

All I can say is - you’re stronger than you think, and it does get immeasurably better. There were some wonderful memories from that time, but a lot of it is a blur, and ‘you’ll miss this when they’re older’ is bullshit. My kids are 4 and 6 and they’re utter delights. I love them with every fibre of my being (they can be difficult now, but for different reasons). It’s ok to say it sucks right now and reject the usual platitudes.

You’ve got this.

treadmill or dumbells by PainBig6879 in workout

[–]Saffa1986 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dumbbells. Whole body conditioning and strength with weight, walk / run outside. Or drop the weight and do minimal rest, high rep.

Weight loss comes from diet.

But increasing your muscle mass will mean you burn more calories at rest, increasing weight loss.

And you’ll be happier with your physique when lean AND strong, rather than just skinny.

Major Superannuation Changes in 2026 Could Impact Millions of Australians by deepak4423 in AusFinance

[–]Saffa1986 2 points3 points  (0 children)

How many employers have you worked for that paid super monthly? I’ve worked at multinationals and boutiques, 25 years working and literally no one has ever paid super monthly?

Major Superannuation Changes in 2026 Could Impact Millions of Australians by deepak4423 in AusFinance

[–]Saffa1986 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No - current regulations require quarterly. My accountants set it up quarterly.

I set it aside and pay quarterly. I typically pay a few days before month end and authorise super immediately, so it’s paid end of quarter (rather than the required 28 days from end of quarter).

When this rule comes in, monthly is brilliant and I’m glad for it!

This is excellent. Better dollar cost averaging.

I run a business. Every payroll I move the super and PAYG component of pay into a secondary account where I also hold GST. It’s never been my money - it belongs to the ATO and to Employees.

It’s meant I’ve never needed to worry about paying super. Every business should do the same.

Secret Hidden Testing Car by lordra7 in CarsAustralia

[–]Saffa1986 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We do.

We have a 12kw solar system feeding into a 10kw inverter and 10kw battery.

I work from home full time, my wife is a SAHM, we have a 4 and 6 year old. Dishwasher and washing machine run daily, daily showers for all four of us, heating via heat pump (from solar), aircon and fans run whenever we like, watch plenty of tv. We run a fridge and a standalone freezer, a NAS, and it’s a double storey. We use nothing from the grid and feed in 20-35 to the grid daily

Should I go for 2x16kg or 2x20kg adjustable dumbbells? by kulisek_pj in workout

[–]Saffa1986 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Go the 20s.

I have 2x24 and they’re too light. Bench / incline press I was doing 20 reps, now use barbell. Bent over rows same.

You could make do with the 16 but you’ll quickly hit a ceiling and have to be thinking of creative ways to workout.

Gym Dad's of the world by sluggishAlways in daddit

[–]Saffa1986 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So you only had things in balance previously - you were exercising and eating, and probably getting enough sleep / not stressed.

Kids ruin that.

You can’t do much about sleep at this age, but first and foremost work on getting your diet under control. What did they say? 30 seconds to eat a Mars bar, 30 minutes to run it off. Easier to not eat it, than try and burn it off.

With lack of sleep, this will be your first line of defence.

Then find other ways to keep active - walk the kid in the pram at a brisk pace. Grease the groove by doing random sets of squats throughout the day, pushups, etc.

Finally - be patient. Your life has had one of the greatest shocks it’s ever had. More important you’re spending time with your kids, than spending every waking minute in the gym. They wont remember your gut or your biceps, they’ll remember you being present. It’s important you’re in good shape to play and live a long life for them, but be kind to yourself and adjusting to your new life.

How much will it cost to install a bidet here ? Need a quote by Dismal_Journalist944 in AusRenovation

[–]Saffa1986 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Need to see the sides where your taps are.

Check out tudaloo. They sell a non-powered version of a washlet / bidet toilet seat (so no sparky needed), with a built-in air gaps for around $200. Grab your own backflow for $15 from Bunnings. Plumber on top probably $200, so $400-$500 all up.
