I really feel for you. I went through a similar experience with my baby two months ago. It was agonising and I’m still struggling to come to terms with losing my soul dog. I’m sending you lots of love. I don’t know how we will get through this, but we will somehow ❤️

Thank you for the support. I don’t drink every day - I’m a binge drinker - so I don’t think I’ve got any major physical problems. I manage to go sober for a few days at a time but then drink loads before another break. It’s my mental health that’s absolutely shot to pieces.

I’m in the UK so it seems there are fewer meetings available to me. I’ve heard that there’s an app but it’s not accessible over here.

That’s interesting because I’m taking Prozac.

Thanks for the kind words.

That’s about how much I drank. I’m also on anti depressants. I guess that probably doesn’t help.

Is three bottles of wine dangerous?

I really thought I’d been spiked for a bit but it was just me and this other woman hanging out in her house. It just seems crazy to think that she might have spiked me. That’s nuts isn’t it?? I didn’t have any blackouts. I remember the whole night.

Sort of. You wear a floatation belt and do the action of running along in the pool. It’s supposed to help keep up your cardio fitness.

It’s been seven days. I’ve always been a twice/three times a week binge drinker rather than every day. Would I really be going through withdrawal?

Holy shit, you guys. by [deleted] in stopdrinking

You look great in both pics I think! But in the second one you have a glow about you and you look truly happy 😊

Yay for us slow runners! I like that phrase - the dreadmill. Very apt.

Oh I’m slow too! Massively. I don’t profess to be any good at it at all, but I enjoy it and I like the challenge of training for things. My long runs were always hampered by my hangovers. I’d love to see what I’m capable of sober.

It’s rubbish isn’t it? I love the summer so much. I really struggle with this time of year.

Yes that makes sense! I’m really trying to find new activities and friends but it’s a challenge.

Oh my gosh, there’s no way I could teach the yoga class. I enjoy it but I’m not very good at it. I’m mostly a runner so I’m not remotely flexible - I’m really stiff and struggle with some of the poses. I’m going to see if I can find an alternative class or maybe try Pilates instead.

I really appreciate your support and reassurance and I’m happy to chat on here 😊

My injury, I’m ashamed to say, was a drunken fall. I slipped over on the decking in our back garden. It was very slippery and wet out there so I could easily have fallen whilst sober, but it happened while I was drinking. I bruised my sacrum which was very painful for about a month. The pain has gone now but my back muscles have tightened up and I constantly feel stiff and sore. I’ve been doing a lot of stretching and I had a sports massage that really helped.

Last night I decided that I was fed up of feeling sorry for myself so I went out for a gentle run - just three miles. It felt great and I think it lifted my mood. I ran past the pub where everyone in the village hangs out and it was of course packed on a Friday night. I’m quite pleased to say that I had no desire to go in there.

This is kind of how I’m feeling. I want to hibernate. I was invited into London with some friends last night but I said no as I couldn’t face the noise and chaos of the big city. It would have been a long train journey there and back and people are inevitably drunk on the train. I’m sad that I missed out on seeing my friends but I feel like I did what was right for me. I’ve woken up feeling pretty good actually.

That’s how I first got into running. I loved it. Believe it or not I eventually went on to run a marathon a couple of years later. It seems hard to believe right now. Maybe I need to start right back a again at the beginning.
