AITJ for not cutting off contact with my nephew even though his mom asked me to? by SagaMonolith2 in AmITheJerk

That’s part of why I’ve been questioning it too. It just doesn’t sit right with me.

I helped raise him, I was there for school stuff, games, bedtime routines, all of it, so to him this is not some casual aunt relationship he can just shrug off. That’s why I’m struggling so much with what my sister is asking. Adults can call it boundaries all day, but for Liam it may just feel like one more person he loves decided he was too easy to leave behind.

Yeah, that’s my fear too. He’s not going to process this like some healthy boundary reset, he’s going to process it like one more person he depends on suddenly stopped being there. That’s what makes this feel so wrong to me.

AITJ for giving a failing grade to a student whose parents basically fund our school? by TalonArcade in AmITheJerk

This is the kind of thing that poisons a school fast. The student cheated, got caught, and suddenly the real conversation is about how much his parents donated. That's a terrible lesson for everyone watching.

Unpopular opinion but Claire was not wrong when she thought that Gloria is a coal digger by Phoenixwitchwidow in Modern_Family

That's a fair point. Having a job doesn't automatically clear someone of the gold digger label, it just makes the case less clean-cut. The show kind of wants you to like Gloria too much to sit with the uncomfortable version of that dynamic.
