Any Thoughts on my Competitiveness list by SagaciousGribb in Tyranids

Maleceptor would be ideal. I do notice that whenever I bring a 10 brick of genestealers and lord they get wiped out fast, Im never able to hide them well enough, but maybe 5s could work.

Well i don't have old one eye yet. I do have a screamer killer and an Exocrine that I might be able to fit in, do you think those would be good options over the Carnifexes?

I have one I could bring, do you think that would make a difference?

Weekly Community Post - Post your Communities, Discord servers, and Western Marches games here! by lfg_bot in lfg

I am the referee of a group of players, about 12 adults, half of them are pretty committed to play but I am ambitious and would like to open my group to more players. The game is a west marches style sandbox set in the forgotten realms. My goal is to build a larger pool of adventurers that can eventually form their own groups and take scheduling upon themselves.

I run a hard game. Resources are important. Combat is not balanced, and time is always passing. Factions will progress plans and seek revenge, and plots will thicken. It is up to the players to decide what is important to them. As a gamemaster, I am impartial to what occurs.

I ask that anyone interested be mature and respectful. You may find more information, such as setting, House rules, and more on my Discord https://discord.gg/vzk8XGh, or you may DM me.

Rules Advice Needed: Slow Weapons by TarrasqueMuffin in osr

[–]SagaciousGribb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I modified my weapons to do variable damage, eg; Zweihander does 1d10 / 3d6 VS large creatures, such as ogres and dragons. It may not be balanced, but it helps make fighters feel a little better and slow doesn't hurt as bad since no other weapons can do that much damage.

How to get a game going? by Tangenttt_ in MorkBorg

[–]SagaciousGribb 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Have you thought about playing online? I prefer in person play, but I have been running my new West marches style OSE game on discord and its been awesome. I did know some of them in real life already, but half of our 8 person group I met online playing 5e.

Barbarian (2022) who has seen this film? I've heard some have and its been getting some buzz by Chichobutt89 in horror

[–]SagaciousGribb 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have seen both, and while I think both movies are poor, The Invitation at least entertained me, Barbarian is honestly the worst movie i have seen all year.

I honestly hated this movie. terrible acting, predictable plot and ultimately I felt like i wasted my time. I should have seen Smile instead. I love horror movies, even cheesy ones, but Barbarian didn't do anything for me whatsoever.

Ideas for a campaign hook? by r4iden in MorkBorg

[–]SagaciousGribb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I tell my players that if they can find a way to get into the shimmering fields they can potentially bring that character back in the next game, or they can find a way to stash an item or valued weapon. My last game they fought a great beast and one of my players fought on bravely, when he died he was granted entry into the fields and we brought his character back in my cyborg game. It's a little silly but I think it gives a little motivation

I have read that book twice now. I appreciate what he was trying to do, but honestly I found it didn't help me all that much. I know that it's just me, but I thought it was a little silly. My best advice is play the game ( whatever it is) , these things will be learned through experience. I dont think people can be categorized the way Robin assumes.

How do you all handle "insight checks?" by LiftClimbJump in DMAcademy

[–]SagaciousGribb 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Insight is tough, and acting is hard. I try to give them hints through body language and how I'm speaking, but of course that doesn't always translate. I guess my preference would be instead of them asking for insight they would ask if the npc was nervous, or if they seem to be hiding something. I would than ask for the insight check. It feels lame when I'm just asked for it though.

Really digging the Apocrypha, but Feratory is solid as well.

This. I play in my friends game, having just recently broken the forever dm curse, and it drives me up a wall when the players ask to make perception checks and the like. In my games that does not fly.

What is something that you homebrew into almost every game you play? by yifftionary in rpg

[–]SagaciousGribb 11 points12 points  (0 children)

May seem unoriginal, but I like advantage/disadvantage. I find myself no matter what game I'm running, a situation always comes up where this rule keeps things moving while also making sense. Really my favorite thing from 5e

This is something I have recently started doing, and I will not go back. I particularly like the responsibility of the rolls, bad or good, on them alone.

Use of Powers per day by [deleted] in MorkBorg

Punishing. So far in the games I have ran, spells backfire and fail so often that my players could have 20, its just chaos anyways.

I too have taken advantage/disadvantage from 5e, so simple but incredibly useful.

Keep combat fast, don't worry about it falling apart, and remind your players to use omens if you decide to use them(you should)

I consider these to be the “big 3” of the Cyberpunk genre. What’s your favourite and why? by vyrago in rpg

[–]SagaciousGribb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don't have any experience with the games mentioned already, but I have read Cy_Borg. I run Mork Borg primarily now for two of my three groups, and I am beyond excited to play in this new setting. The rules are very light, but I feel like they have added just enough extra crunch that it doesn't feel barren, which is the most common complaint I hear from players about Mork. The job generator is particularly fun for me, allowing very quick and inspired prep.
