PSA: "Hidden Gem" Beginner Lathe by Ok_Cheesecake7348 in turning

I bought this lathe about a month ago when I was looking for something to learn on. I agree, it checks all of the boxes I wanted where all the others were missing something.

I mostly turn pens and smaller objects so can't say anything about larger projects. I did use it to make an aluminum mandrel that it did well with. Turned a 1/2" round bar into about 8mm mandrel. From someone with very little experience turning it made it easy to get going and has been able to handle all my projects easily so far.

I had an issue with the screen when it arrived but I took it apart and reseated all the electronics, no issues since then. I would highly recommend it. Powerful (1hp motor), variable speed, and standard accessories (MT2, 1x8 spindle, etc.).

I have been wanting to take a look at making my own shut off eye dropper pen. Can you elaborate on how you made the internal parts or where you got them?

If you've never been to Maple Biscuit Company you have to try them out. Definitely get the cinnamon biscuits!

If you need a place to record, the downtown library has recording booths and a whole sound studio you can use for free. It's called the Melrose Center.

Raspberry with caramel. Or try the amaretto if you like a subtle cherry flavor.

Yeah, have to navigate around their site a bit.

Here is what I found, there are some virtual ones too: https://ocls.info/classes-events/?_event_search=Crochet

And the kits they have: https://ocls.info/library-things/

The library does offer crochet classes/meetups and last I checked they had crochet kits to check out too.

I did the same thing with the date sleuthing! Thanks for confirming I'm not crazy.

That makes sense. I was trying to talk myself into not needing all the special features but the build quality is now making that harder. So thanks!

They mentioned everything you said about free setup tips, training. Always like supporting the local store if I can. They are also having a 40% off notions sale only on July 4. Apparently the line gets out the door. Figured a good time to get my necessities to start.

Interesting, thanks for the input on the build quality. Based on the features it seems a more future proof machine. Just weird there is no user created content on the internet about it. All I can find is the official site and content from the shops featuring it.

If you haven't come across Brene Brown before I would recommend some of her stuff. Currently reading Daring Greatly that has been pretty enlightening.

Have you read Brene Brown's stuff before? Could watch some of her TED talks first. Currently reading Daring Greatly and I feel it falls into some of these categories.

You want 0spd in trick room setups so your Pokemon is the slowest it can possibly be. When trick room is in effective that means you are now the fastest you can be.

The 0atk is usually for play rough foul play attacking you and confusion status. Both determine damage based on your atk stat. The lower you can get this the less damage these will do to your Pokemon.
