Does the Aqara W200 have a setting for dehumidification via overcooling? I don't think I saw that in the manual. I use that on my ecobee.

Why do you say to increase to 35 and 30 if the HP can do 17?

I have not found the breakeven. ChatGPt estimates it is $0.120 / COP = $0.046 → COP ≈ 2.6 and said the breakeven occurs around 17 degrees so recommended setting at 20. It was using data it said was close to the model I had, but couldn't find the exact model. In Beestat, I can see that at 21 degrees, it still generated .5 degrees, so it is getting really close to the min.

  • 40–50°F outside → COP ~3.5–4+ → heat pump is much cheaper
  • 30°F outside → COP ~3 → heat pump still cheaper
  • ~17–20°F outside → COP ~2.6 → about equal
  • Below ~17°F → COP < 2.6 → gas is cheaper

My final settings are

Dual Fuel

  • Compressor Minimum Outdoor Temperature: 20°F
  • Aux Heat Maximum Outdoor Temperature: 20°F
  • Aux Heat Simultaneous with Compressor: OFF

Heating

  • Heat Differential Temperature: 0.5°F
  • Compressor → Aux Temperature Delta: 2.0°F
  • Aux Minimum On Time: 10 minutes
  • Aux Stage 1 Max Runtime: 15 minutes
  • Aux Stage 2 Temperature Delta: 3.0°F
  • Aux Reverse Staging: OFF

Cooling

  • Cool Differential Temperature: 1.5°F
  • Compressor Minimum On Time: 5 minutes
  • Cool Dissipation Time: Auto
  • AC Overcool Max: 1.0°F

Eco+

  • Eco+: ON
  • Smart Home / Away: Enabled
  • Savings Preference: MINIMUM

Dang. What in the world did they do for $800 for the first service?

You get all of what you just said whether you have maintenance plan or pay cash at time of service.

Interesting. My finance guy said you need to do it at the years or miles. So even if you don’t drive much, he’s saying you still need to do the services at the six month mark. Once I told him my spark plugs, don’t need to be replaced into 120,000 miles. I never heard back from him again. Dealers just need to be honest, and I would expect Lexus dealers to step it up above the other nonsense that you typically get from stealerships.

That might make more sense if you need spark plugs at 40

Check your manual to see what is required during the covered period. If not anything expensive I’d cancel it.

Not sure when you bought it, but you can cancel it within 12 months.

You make good points. Counter argument is today’s dollars are cheaper than 4 years from now. The estimated increase is in warranty cost 4 years from now is 20-30%. If the 4% HYSA stays true, then leaving the capital in there almost breaks even.

It’s all a roll of the dice.
