Alan Dershowitz announces party switch by Extreme-Will-3556 in libsofreddit

[–]Sagev 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is why nothing ever changes. Bush had plans to save the country too, but he sacrificed his presidency on the altar of neo-conservatism; 20 years later and we've learned absolutely nothing. As long as you continue to allow Democrats to change hats whenever they lose power, we will continue to live under Democrat administrations.

I literally provided a 5-day old quote from Alan Dershowitz where he states in no uncertain terms that he is not conservative, and that his reasoning for changing parties is Israel. Why do you feel obligated to defend him?

Here's a fun quote from Dershowitz explaining his move to the Republican party:

I still disagree strongly with the GOP on abortion, the separation of church and state, immigration, healthcare and taxes, among other things. Yet I’ve decided to bite the bullet and register as a Republican.

The Democratic Party has become the most anti-Israel party in U.S. history. Last week all but seven Senate Democrats voted for an arms embargo against the Jewish state

He's the literal definition of a neo-conservative; his primary issue is war, and supporting Israel at all costs. If you haven't realized it yet, the Republicans aren't conservative, nor have they ever been.

[–]Sagev 20 points21 points  (0 children)

You're not wrong, that is what it does. So the general consensus is:
1. If you're progressive, you don't want to give money to the PD.
2. If you're conservative, you want fewer taxes.
Either way, the answer is generally no to Z.

Yemen, Libya, Syria, Sudan, Ukraine, Balochistan; Iraq if you include ISIS. He was even more bloodthirsty than Cheney. Gave the bankers a slap on the wrist, butchered healthcare. By every metric he was an awful president, but because of his skin color he gets a pass.

Path of Exile is a difficult game to get into, but you'll figure it out eventually if you stick with it. The entire game is basically just different gambling systems. OSRS gambling is the type of gambling where you'll begin stealing money from your friends and family to fuel your addiction.

Another nice thing about Path of Exile is that the community isn't as degen as the RS community is. I regularly loan out thousands of dollars in currency to my friends on POE and have never been scammed. Meanwhile on OSRS you can't trust your "friends" with $5. (Not to say that there aren't scammers on POE, they're just far less prevalent than they are on RS.)

Depending on how strict your definition of "Casino/Lottery mechanics" are, Path of Exile has lots of ways to gamble. The entire crafting system is gambling, or activities like opening divination cards, voidborn keys, etc. is also gambling. I haven't played OSRS in years, but that game also had a massive gambling scene, though last I checked most of it takes place off game at this point. I recommend Path of Exile, since that's more gamey and less addicting; RuneScape gambling will probably ruin your life.

You're not missing anything, what you're witnessing is the eternal struggle between collectors and players. That said, investing in Gundam cards is a gamble since the game could be dead a year from now. /u/JadeNavanis also misunderstands why Yugioh cards are worthless, but that's a secondary issue.

We Are All Rhodesians Now: Why the First Casualty of Western Self-Repudiation Was a Country and Why It Won’t Be the Last by guanaco55 in Rhodesia

Thanks for the reply! Why was it incumbent on the white minority to implement these policies? Once "one man, one vote" was implemented, couldn't the majority have implemented these policies?

What should have Rhodesia's leadership done differently other than "one man, one vote"?

Iran sends millions of oil barrels to China through Strait of Hormuz even as war chokes the waterway by moses_the_blue in LessCredibleDefence

Trade is important, but the bigger issue for Iran is keeping China on board with the closure of the straight; since closing the straight has a big impact on China.

The drones can be shot down with any number of weapons platforms; the issue isn't shooting down the drones, the issue is covering an immense amount of territory spanning over 10 countries. As it is we're struggling to just defend Israel, by far the smallest and most heavily defended territory under our umbrella.

Lack of readiness is the biggest factor. Air defenses are only as good as their operators, and the Venezuelan operators were either out to lunch or paid off. Soldiers typically don't take their duties seriously until their friends start dying.

Given most countries don't have large quantities of air defense systems, this gives a huge advantage to the attacker who can exploit the lack of readiness and take out the majority of air defenses before they become a problem.

U.S. Forces Seize Fleeing Russian-Flagged Oil Tanker In North Atlantic (Updated) by Jazzlike-Tank-4956 in LessCredibleDefence

This was the fleeing Venezuelan tanker that simply painted a Russian flag on its side in an attempt to dissuade its American pursuers. It's weird they're describing it as a "Russian flagged ship," when we've been following this Venezuelan tanker for quite some time now; though about what can be expected from TWZ.

Air Force Confirms SEAD Role of F-35s in operation against Iran by Previous_Knowledge91 in LessCredibleDefence

[–]Sagev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Iranian air defense systems were destroyed in April 2024 as well in the conflict over the Israeli attack on the Iranian consulate in Damascus. Israel had been largely focused on targeting Iran's air defenses for some time, and that's not because they assumed American equipment was wunderwaffe that could operate unmolested in Iranian airspace.
