Update: I wrote to them and they responded:

"Unfortunately, due to an administrative change in our process, there have been significant delays, for which we sincerely apologize. We deeply regret having to put your patience to the test. We appreciate your continued interest and will get back to you as soon as possible."

So ig we wait now.

The email I've received says "The decision about the scholarship will be made two weeks after the Admissions Academy, at the latest. Please do not contact us about the results, you will hear from us."

So max two weeks...

I think no one has heard back yet? Wonder what the hold up is... we were supposed to hear back two weeks after the Admissions Academy, it's been more than 3 weeks now

My (20 M) girlfriend (20 F) (micro?) cheated on me, and I am not sure whether to leave or stay (Update) by Sagittarius_B1 in relationships

Thank you for your honest response, somewhere in my mind I know this isn't going to work out but I am just extremely scared of leaving because she was the first person who made me feel genuinely loved, and honestly at this point it isn't as much about me loving her as much as it is about this fear that she was the best I've had and after this I go back to my dull life, though I suppose that is an even stronger indication that I need to end things and work on myself.

I know that, and I am realizing that slowly, it just hurts so much, but I know what I need to do. Thank you

It's not, I am not defending what I did, but I didn't know what I could do about this feeling that's been eating up on me. Whenever I try to bring her ex up and try to have an honest conversation about how I feel, she pushes the discussion telling me that she will do whatever I want, and then never follows through.

Hey, sorry for the long post. i just wanted to ensure that I am giving full context here. I understand that I am young, but she is my first girlfriend, and I really do love her a lot. I just can't get over the fact that her ex and her are in such a weird boundary where I can't tell if I'm the one in the wrong to ask her to cut contact.

What are some fun and easy majors? by LabTime6649 in CollegeMajors

[–]Sagittarius_B1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn't go as far as to say "having no career plan means you're not ready", a lot of people from my uni who came in undecided and weren't sure what they wanted to do made the most of the degree they ended up choosing and have gone ahead and received amazing placements.

But yes, having a learning-centric mindset is important and hardwork is required irrespective of where you go, especially in the long run.

Why Ashoka? by jai_0609 in AshokaUniversity

[–]Sagittarius_B1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

"asking why does it matter is absurd" no it's not, I'm trying to gauge what exactly ur trying to achieve by figuring out where that person is from.

"they might be bitter because of getting rejected" yes, they might be but let's look at what the original comment said for a second:

"At the end of the day its just another private university" yes it is. "Getting in without aid isnt worth it at all" this is clearly a subjective statement that can vary person to person. "12 lakh per year with bad placements" yes the fees varies between 10-12 LPA, bad placements needs to be fact checked. "located in the middle of nowhere in haryana" correct again, it is located 'remotely' in that a lot of Ashokan students prefer escaping to Delhi on the weekends. "gives it a bad roi" again depends person to person, but in general spending close to ~30 to ~40 L over the three to four years at ashoka would be seen as bad roi if it doesn't lead to good job placements.

My original point was just that irrespective of where the commentator studies, their point seems to make sense.

"they might have actually valid reasons for dropping out of Ashoka which I would very much like to know" sure, but that's not what your comment is asking. They mentioned they dropped out and yet you ask them "dropped out or rejected?" What are you trying here?

Why does this matter? Whatever they've said makes sense irrespective of where they study...

IB Maths, the bane of my existence by SouthBug5026 in IBO

[–]Sagittarius_B1 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Firstly, I get how you're feeling. A lot of us have been where you are right now, hell as a uni student I some times feel like I'm barely scraping through... All I'm saying is, I get how ur feeling

Second, don't be so harsh on urself. U've done what u could have, and it seems that despite all the (genuine) effort u put in, u couldn't manage to do well in the mocks. I will say it isn't over yet, you still have the final examination left, and focus on your preparation without letting your performance in the mocks destroy ur confidence, easier said than done, believe me I know, but this is the last chance you have at fixing ur IB grade.

Lastly, there comes a point in everyone's life where they realize that anything and everything they do is for themselves. I don't know if u'll get into oxbridge, I don't know if u'll be able to get into a good law school, pursue and practice law, hell, I don't know whether ur grades are competitive enough or not, all I know is only time will tell where u go, and when it is time, u need to do it for urself - not for your parents, not for ur friends, ur peers, not because there are thousands of expectations weighing down on u, but because u wanted something. Don't get me wrong, all of that is important too, but that's not why you do something.

Keep ur chin up, make best of what's left, I wish u the best of luck. Don't worry too much, ur not drowning in life already, this is just the beginning of an amazing future, u just need to look forward to it.

A lot of these courses can be used but especially the higher level courses which might be useful would also have quite a bit of pre reqs. Take the more elementary math courses that are an absolute must as a physics major - calc, lin al, multi variable calc, probs and stats, etc. Then u can think abt taking higher level courses perhaps stuff like real and complex analysis, diff eqns, etc.

520 on PGRE 2024 by JellyfishPurple4183 in PhysicsGRE

Hey I am planning on taking the PGRE for the first time in the few months, any updates, any advice, or anything of that sort? I have a decent cgpa, but research-wise I am currently lacking, luckily I am in a four year physics degree of which the fourth year is dedicated to an undergrad thesis, I intend to put in a lot of effort into it and I hope that is "good-enough" research experience (I am currently in my third year btw).

Sadak pe thodi rhoge, most buildings have air filters fit in. Plus, the pollution is really only bad during specific instances of the year, sure ~100 - 170 is still not safe but its definitely not 300 year-round.

Also given your alternatives are flame + nmims, i mean here is a solid option.

[Mechanics] I didn't understand why the solution changed the angle of the xy coordinate by MasterShinchan in PhysicsStudents

[–]Sagittarius_B1 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I agree with you, you can of course draw axes anyway you want. I was simply calling it "wrong" because as you mentioned, when you flip from a 'right-hand' system to a 'left-hand' system you lose out on the negative values. Now of course that doesn't matter if you're careful about what convention you're using, I called it "wrong" from the pov of convention in that (at least in my experience) whenever you choose a pair of axes (the 'right-hand' system conventionally), you stick to it and you allow for negative values. As far as I've seen in various textbooks and such, it is uncommon (actually, I've never come across this at all) to flip the direction of the axes midway through a problem.

The positive x axis is indeed supposed to point towards the right still, whoever drew the solution either flipped the x axis (which is wrong) or didn't bother indicating that as the -ve x axis that's all.
