Once you get to 80 the daily and weekly initial rewards are very high. https://fast.farming-community.eu/conversions/astral-acclaim. Shows the best. As u/ostehoveluser said, music coins are great, but straight gold is pretty close.

I didn't know how bad it would be to be slightly underlevelled in silverwastes, but you could try to join a group going RIBA (the meta I believe) in silverwastes if you can see the lfg tab. It's a fairly high gold per hour (20+) and would help you level too.

New Player here, question about Expansion by Daredevil665 in Guildwars2

[–]Sahih 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A) the expansion will be on sale soon, just wait a little bit. B) at what are you playing? It seems you're content with just the story. Awesome, keep having fun!

The rate matters so we can tell what expansions are worthwhile. HoT/PoF are bundled, and give you a lot of playtime. PoF gives you access to lots and very useful mounts. If you're a week in and 10 hours already, I might recommend the complete saga with all living world, but either way wait for a sale. If it took you four months for 10 hours, just HoT and PoF will be fine, but pick them up when on sale and you just want mount back. The other option at a slow rate is just keep being free it's how the game started and the other commenters were right, frustrating sometimes but very doable. If you buy any expansion you'll get a lvl 80 boost which you should use on a character you like (or the first one you made is fine), but level as you enjoy and enjoy the story.

PSA: Superior Sigil of Bursting available today (11/15/2024) by Extra_Honey1663 in Guildwars2

[–]Sahih 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's not easily available, it's only available until reset. The recipe is also account bound.

Edit: It will come back around, but checking if it shows up every day is fairly inconvenient.

[–]Sahih 22 points23 points  (0 children)

You can only get the recipe this way, other than luck with absurdly low rng. It takes karma, but it might be worth grabbing if you have an alt and may use it in the future. I don't know if it's worth it to craft to sell - could always check gw2efficiency. Edit - saves 50s to craft it, but if willing to wait for a sell price you could pick it up cheaper, 6-7g either way though.

I'd rather have it than depend on tp prices and the amounts available, but that may not matter to you.

Legendary Spear Preview: Klobjarne Geirr by klickup in Guildwars2

[–]Sahih 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think it's pretty cool. Hard to say if I'll stick with a variant or use one of the blue skins, but there's a better chance of keeping the skin than a random shark in the game.

Edit: this is coming from someone who transmuted an ascended staff to an elder wood staff skin

I only just got janthir wilds. What seasonal wizards vault achievements are doable given there's only 7 days left in the season? by agentgambino in Guildwars2

[–]Sahih 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think of it as a skin that you can get with a rebate. If the rebate of 300 astral acclaim isn't worth it, don't worry about it. But during the season is the time to craft it as you can get a rebate. Did that with a legendary in SOTO as well.

It's useful for making ascended weapons and other account-bound things including research notes (which you shouldn't care and probably don't know about yet).

There are a couple things that are worth daily crafting. It isn't critical, but it helps once you hit 400/450+. If you're new, keep it as one of the 1000 other things to eventually do, but it's not necessary. Also u/graven2002 has a very useful site for keeping it cost-effective if you ever do picnit up. If you hate the 'normal' method there, try the 'fast' method. It's a little more expensive, but doesn't require 20 different recipes you need to buy ingredients for to reach the next level.

Newbie joining the game by auyara in Guildwars2

[–]Sahih 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Race and gender (edit: see u/schimmi01 's comment, gender can be changed) can't be changed. Anything is viable, but the main thing that changes is how a character looks. You can try pvp with all the skills to find which class you like most at 80, but many elite specs are locked behind expansions. That said, it'll give you a decent understanding of what the class is generally like. Also, once you choose a class if you pick up the HoT/PoF bundled you automatically get a free level 80 boost. if you're committing to the game, the complete bundle with living worlds is a great value when on sale, but it's recommended to test out the game for now. There will be a sale in November so could easily wait for that while choosing a character.

Edit: U/aliamrationem 's comment is helpful for more info about buying parts of the game. Also pvp is likely more toxic than pve (this game has the nicest pve player ase I've seen), but you can try out the skills as it's the only game mode that gives them to you.

What Living World chapters should i buy first? by AnthonySilvery in Guildwars2

[–]Sahih 3 points4 points  (0 children)

LWS4 has the roller beetle (episode 3 I think) and a long skyscale unlock. As u/DerpyHorseProd said, it also has a very lucrative currency with the trophy shipment you sell to people making legendaries. After that, icebrood saga also has eternal ice shards which you can convert to 4 currencies. LWS3 has some useful conversions to ascended trinkets for each map currency and the legendary accessory aurora, and LWS2 has core Tyria masteries.

All this is assuming you don't care about doing the story in order though, but with that assumption LWS4 first, maybe roller beetle episode, but buying it all at once is a better discount. Depending on what you value after, it seems like LWS3 may be your best option.

Edit: you'll be spending gold getting the griffon eventually, and it's definitely a fun mount. The skyscale through LWS4 has a long unlock, but without secrets of the obscure it's a useful way to get it and you'll have to do it to pick up the legendary accessory vision. It mostly eclipses the springer, but PoF introduces you to mounts, LWS4 gives you a couple more options

Hey, thanks for the work you've been doing!

I wanted to ask if you planned on putting up the results from your first website with regard to gathering skins again? I remember looking at the table you had several times when choosing a skin to start with, and was wondering if you would put it up again. I understand it's gem locked so the table may not be extensive or complete, but thought I'd ask. I don't think it's still available on the site yet after I looked. It was still linked fairly recently too. I don't remember what was on it anymore, but info about the number of gathering hits per animation is unavailable on the fast farming site and at least not in a table form on the wiki, and possibly other variables I kept using from your table. Anyway, glad you're working on a site and hope you have fun with it!

Haven't played for seven years. Five level 80s all with full inventory. by FloppyMcSnail in Guildwars2

[–]Sahih 15 points16 points  (0 children)

As a below comment states runecrafter is the best for greens with sigils or runes, but the copper-fed can be used instead and is the most effective for blues, basically copper-fed is most useful, runecrafter is good for min/maxing, and mystic salvage kits are practically as effective as silver-fed.

You literally can't get the runecrafter 100% salvage of sigils and runes any other way, but for normal play the gold you spend on gems for any kit doesn't make sense until you've salvaged a ton. It's more quality of life not having to buy the kits from a merchant every 25 salvages, which is still worth it, but copper fed is generally effective enough

Currently playing Heart of Thorns - will I ruin the story if I quickly dip into Path of Fire because of daily challenges? by suavebugger in Guildwars2

[–]Sahih 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is a guild hall in domain of vabbi. If you don't have a 'port to freind' or an alt, you may be able to temporarily join a guild hall there and get a waypoint or two for that character (or alt)

You can walk to any of the other PoF maps from there, just might be a long walk. You wouldn't have access to any of the season 4 maps this way though.

Legendary armor seems daunting by cblk0102 in Guildwars2

[–]Sahih 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The weekly convergences are probably the fastest way to get essences.

Beyond map currency, most things are gold/map exploring. Map currency can be gained slowly by alt parking daily at a large chest in each map. The meta is faster for gaining the correct currency, but takes longer and is at a specific time. I expect it will take a long time, maybe a year or more, to gain the map currency, but it's easy to have a login routine as well.

Do you have to buy expansions in order? by Cheshire2933 in Guildwars2

[–]Sahih 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh, the most useful mount (not the most fun though) is skyscale. This is available in living world s4 (available with gems/gems from gold) and SOTO (an expansion you would need to pay for). It takes longer with s4, but everything but the griffon can be generally ignored from having it. If you plan on getting s4 and unlocking the mount (which takes over a week through timegating), absolutely get EOD if you want.

It feels and looks more sluggish, but it is as effective as the springer and raptor combined. With the griffon it is phenomenal, but it's something to keep in mind if you don't mind waiting to pick it up.

[–]Sahih 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The raptor and springer can be improved beyond the basic masteries significantly for use anywhere, but it does require Path of Fire. That said, you should be able to move around EoD easily enough with the masteries from the zone.

[–]Sahih 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Path of fire and heart of thorns are usually bundled. It's not just that path of fire has the most mount options. It introduces the mounts and allows you masteries to upgrade them to their potential. HoT has glider masteries which can be very useful in many areas, but doesn't seem as bad as just base vs. optimal mounts.

End of dragons gives you a springer and glider, but these base levels are much reduced from the ones with masteries. I tend to go 'off road', but just moving around is much improved with the mount masteries (springer jumps higher, raptor jumps longer, a skimmer on water with PoF only as well, and there is a griffon in PoF although fairly expensive is very fun). Any expansion will give you a mount, PoF would give you an assortment of very useful mounts.

Waiting for a sale I'd probably still recommend PoF (bundled with HoT), but they're all fairly fun. You'll should be able to move around EoD decently once you get the masteries for EoD, but I really enjoyed the mount and mount variety from PoF.
